Polyphia is a primarily instrumental progressive rock band based in Plano, Texas, formed in 2010. The group consists of guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage, bassist Clay Gober, and drummer Clay Aeschliman. Polyphia's sound is noted for incorporating virtuosic guitar parts with other styles of music.

It's called Hybrid Picking. They also do Thumb, Pluck, and Slap finger picking as well. Their latest album, Remember That You Will Die, they do a ton of this and many songs have an almost Spanish/Jazz fusion sound to them. I HIGHLY recommend pretty much anything from the album, but ABC will throw you a curve ball. It's really good, and unlike things they have done before. XD

As a 62 year old crappy guitarplayer myself I can't get enough from listening to Polyphia and enjoy their musicianship and technique. Having a vocalist as a part of the band would limit their possibility to divert from the trodden path of 'regular' bands thus limiting their creativity. They do have guest singers in songs every now and them and to me those songs are less interesting although the videos are always great.

I've always felt like this variety of music that's purely instrumental but incredibly technical had it's "vocalist" played by the instruments anyways. It's there, it just isn't a voice.

Always keep track on polyphia and reactions. Dont need to see more than 5 seconds to know youll love it. Playing god is also great, but every song hits as hard as the drummer clay, honestly.
