Thank you for mentioning the neurons that are involved in the spinal cord. Many of the reflex explanation videos just say the signal goes to the spinal cord and back out to a motor neuron. They don't address the interneuron, which if you're taking a test may help with the grade.

Except the nervous system does not send a signal to relax. It only sends impulses that result in contraction. The inhibitory neuron blocks (inhibits) that signal so the effector muscle does not get a signal to contract. We call that relaxation. So few actually understand that.

Monosynaptic reflex involve a single synapse between the sensory neuron and motor neuron whereas polysynaptic reflex, the sensory neuron synapses with an interneuron or multiple interneurones which then synapses with multiple other neurons.
