randydearmond1515 I pay about $25 each, not for both. If you search 210 30p pillow block bearing, it will bring up the 1 7/8 size I use. The last ones I got were from Surplus Center. They seemed to be good quality. Hope this helps

Michael Miedema do I need to get a permit from state and EPA before digging a detention pond or retention pond?
@michaelmiedema9687
@michaelmiedema9687 5 жыл бұрын
mike lai I recommend you check with your Department of Natural Resources before you start. I’ve heard stories of people getting huge fines for not getting needed permits. That being said, I didn’t need one as it was on private property and not connected to any other water source, like a stream, river or lake

What... No Fish or Ducks..? Our pond has a weedy island, which is a safe duck nesting area. Also 'Sandy Shallows' where the new young fish congregate.

can someone tell where do they get the water from or how do they get it there
@michaelmiedema9687
@michaelmiedema9687 4 жыл бұрын
tigershade1 the best option is to pick a place that already has water. My pond is spring fed. You can dig a hole, put in a liner ( search pond liners) and fill the pond, but that can be very expensive. I see where some have a well installed just to keep the pond full. Another option to to put the pond at the bottom of a hill and hope rain water will fill. Find someone who does ponds for a living and have them come out and give you options and estimates. Hope this helps!

john U.S. the guy in the digger thought he could dig a deep hole and all the water would go there while he dug the rest of it. Didn’t work 🤷‍♂️

So, you a) completely ruined the ecosystem of the pond, b) took an extreme risk of destroying the spring which gave the pond water, c) doubled the surface and thus also doubled the evaporation of the water and absolutely twisted the balance of temperature based on the relation of surface and depth and all that so that your dogs had a nicer area to play in? Wow. Just wow.

Hi Mikael, I spent a year researching the pond, consulted the local Conservation District, DNR, the local fish hatchery, and several professional pond excavators before starting. The pond was designed to have more surface and shallow areas so that it would be smaller in the hot dry summer than the wet spring and fall. This “shrinking shoreline” would create more plant diversity, which in turn would create more wildlife diversity. Adding a deep end would also add more diversity to the pond as some plants an animal’s need shallow warmer water, and others need deep cold water. The deep end also made it possible for fish to survive the winter. Following the recommendation of the fish hatchery, a balanced mix of prey & predator fish was added to the pond. This added more diversity as it created a new food source to the pond. The surrounding area was seeded in a clover mix which not only provides a food source for many animals, it is also benefits the pollinators. And Yes, sometimes you do need to take a step backwards to take 2 steps forward, but every step of this project was done with specific wildlife goals in mind. Over the last year I have seen an increase in wildlife use of the pond as based on trail cam survey’s showing deer, turkeys, raccoons, coyotes, and black bear regularly visiting the pond. I also have several species of turtles, fish, ducks and more bugs and plants than I can list, move into the pond that were not there before. Thank you for watching my video! Mike

what Michael meant to reply to you is this. "shut the hell up" he didn't have to do anything for your approval. It is his pond on private property and if he wants to have water evaporate then he can. Rains all the time bro. And I can also make the assumption that he paid for it all and you didn't contribute so really you have no say and reason to comment. If you didn't like what he did then stop watching.
