Thanks for the video. I was in my teens during the Fiero's heyday. I loved the later Fieros especially the GT that had the PONTIAC lit up on the back. That was my favorite car for a couple years and I always wondered why production was discontinued. Now I know why.

I loved the Fiero GT, the only thing it lacked was power steering but that didn't matter most of the time. My Dad's friend had one that he would fix for him and he always let me test drive it. Really fun car!

I just bought a 1987 fiero gt 4 days Ago And i love it. Perfect timing.

The 1988 Fiero GT was a sick ride. They finally got it right and typical GM fashion they kill it.

Last year, I bought a 85 GT in really good condition. It had 123000 km on it. I drove 10000 km over 5 months from May to October and had no issues. The V6 has just enough power to make it fun to drive. No power steering or power brakes, but it’s got power windows. Figure that.

My dad had a fiero. He said it was a real money pit compared to most of the other cars he owned through the years but was one of the most fun cars to drive.

As an owner of an 86' fiero, I am quite happy to see this video.

Everything you need to know about the fiero is that if your a good mechanic and comfy with swaps, is that a northstar fits in the back fairly easily.

Just stumbled across the channel, been watching a few videos, had to see if you covered the Fiero. My old man passed away this year and I received his Fiero that he drove for 20 years. For some reason he loved this strange, tragic Frankencar. I don't have the cash to restore the thing, but it's one of the few things I have to keep connected to him and I've developed a love for it as well.

I finally got to this episode…. And this was the most that anyone has ever talked about a Fiero in 20 years. I remember seeing one at my dad’s GM plant during their annual open house in the 1980s.

I worked at a Pontiac dealership in 1988-1989 and our garage was FULL of replacement engines for the Fiero. Still fun as hell to drive.

My sister who was in college at the time but one and had it delivered to the house In 1984. I was a junior in high school and it took me about two days to take it out for the night with my best friend. Good times, thanks for the memories

When I was younger my mother for her daily driver had a Pontiac fiero. Long story short it was a Franken fiero. It had a fiero gt body, and interior, and since the original car got ran over by a truck the chassis was split in half and a half of a front fiero frame was welded to it, AND to add on to that the engine blew up a couple of months later and a Chrysler v6 was in its place. We don’t have the car now but it was an awesome car and it will be forever part of my childhood.

My Grandpa was the chief tool designer for Pontiac at the time of the fiero's The original engine change wasn't due to making it cheaper or more fuel efficient. The change from the high compression V6 to the low compression iron anchor was due to the people at corvette! The fiero originally was getting real close to out performing the corvette and they didn't like it and saw it as direct competition. They went over the designers heads and complained. They didn't want a car costing substantially less than the corvette stealing their thunder. I can understand that. That was when they where forced to use the iron duke. The car went threw some more design changes along the way to save money before the final design. It was sleek and streamlined for aerodynamic efficiency to save on gas. It was meant to be an economical car coming in after the recent gas shortage to fill GM's vacuum that the economy created. The public didn't see it that way, they saw this sleek looking car that resembled a ferrari and expected a hot rod, witch it wasn't. It was designed as a econo car. People demanded it become a hot rod like the looks suggested. Without completely redesigning the car (witch they sort of started to do with the GT's) It was still an econo car. Other things hurt the reputation of the fiero's as well. The front end was so light that it had a problem with you turning and the car continuing strait especially in slick conditions (lots of that in Pontiac, MI). There where also some wiring issues and headlight issues ware they didn't want to come up or go down. The main thing in my mind is GM did not change enough of the car fast enough to make it a hot rod like the people wanted. It would have cost too much to totally redesigned the car and retool the plants for what would have been a major design change.

My first car ever, in 1991, was an 86 GT with the five speed, which was released mid 1986 model year. What a fun car that was to drive. Since then I've had a Porsche 944,.a 945S, a 2001 Corvette Z06 yet I still miss that fiero...

My Dad used to race SCCA, and he was at the same track on which GM was testing the GT prototype Fiero with a high performance V6. The GM team told him that it out-perfomed the Corvette in every way, so GM chose to stick with the standard V6 instead. Still, a very fast little car. Also, I remember a magazine article from the 90's indicating many of the 4 cylinder fires were traced to a cut-rate connecting pin that saved GM a few cents per part.

I owned a '84 Pontiac Fiero. My wife's grandpa worked at GM and obtained the first year production model for his wife and she sold it to my wife for a fountain soda. It was fun to drive, but had 80,000 mile rated Firestones on it. Slid like a banshee. We had soooo many issues with the engine, in the shop 3 times till we had no money to put into it. My wife's father eventually bought it to fix it up, but ended up selling it later. I would love to get a restored one, but the GT instead of the first gen as it was very fun to drive. The speakers in the headrest were a riot, sounded like crap, but there was nowhere else to put em, LOL. Thanks for the vid!!

I am on my 3rd Pontiac Fiero. I have an 84 with the iron duke, an 86 with the 6 cylinder, and an 87 GT with the manual. My special lady likes the Sunday drives to the lake in the cars. Also I have the pop up and down headlights song as an alarm clock sound.

I lol'd at the thumbnail because the Fiero actually caught on fire on some models but I totally loved how it looks, put a 200+hp and 5+speed tranny and turbo or super charger in it and it'll sing!

I remember it differently I used to collect easter eggs around two 1984 fieros sitting in her yard! And I’m 28 yrs old and this year 2020 I bought my first 84, that was swapped with a 2000. 3800gm engine but I still have to figure out the wiring harnesses but I can’t wait to get it complete
