What an absolute pleasure to spend nearly two hours watching your in depth work with constant tutoring. I for one would be disappointed if you cut them down from real time. I certainly don’t consider myself as a beginner having painted for many years but I still manage to take something from your videos. Thanks.

@@oliverpyle-ourlandscape4442 I have to agree with you about the result, but I think that some artists may just be afraid that they can't hold a viewer)s attention for 2 hours. That is a orevalent problem in the digital age, but I think an audience of artists may be different from a general audience wrt attention span (at least for painting.) In any event, I love your format and hope that you can sustain it.

I have been dabbling with watercolors for many years, watching a lot of tutorials and taking classes, trying to nail down my ‘style’, without much success. The foreground grass area with white dots is uncharacteristic of your usual clean, clear, translucent watercolours. Love the rest of your instruction and the beautiful painting. Really like the delicate way you have done the shoreline waves and the line of seaweed on the sand - these lines complement one another. Thank you for your videos.

This was a joy to watch (Part 1 & 2 ) and taught me patience and insight, attention to tiny details (but not too much ! ) and going with the feeling of the scene instead of capturing whatever was in the picture. Beautifully said : to let the painting itself dictate what will come next rather than only the subject in question. Your explanation of "control" versus letting go of control was superb. I enjoy the leaving to the imagination. I appreciate the time you took to go through this and would not cut off any of it. So now that I've been on this thoughtful journey , I'll try it ,watching through once again. First I have to let this all sink in ! Thank you !!!

Thank you Oliver. I very much appreciate the time and thought you put into this demonstration and found your explanations and commentary just right. In particular it was helpful for me to see how you work from start to finish and how you make decisions and handle missteps along the way. I also like the harmony in your colour palette and overall softness in this piece. As a novice it was very helpful seeing how the work came together through each stage. I'm interested in learning more about your use of light in landscapes as many of your works are exceptional in this area. Again thank you - and I agree the decision to gull was right on - providing a nice animation to the scene.

What a joy to watch you paint part 2 of Poole Harbour, and to do major surgery on an area that needed some attention in the trees. I learned so much from watching you, please don't cut anything out! It was also very interesting to see your colours - they look so grey on the palette, and yet so vibrant and "green" in the background trees, and distant hill. Seagulls are fab! When I'm getting to the end, and faffing about, if I want to change/add anything which starts with the thought, "I'll just ..." , I tend not to do it. I have found that "I'll just ..." never works out well. Thank you Olly, for another fantastic tutorial! 👍😀

Hello Oliver; first of all thank you for doing your instructional videos and sharing them with us. I've watched a lot of watercolour tutorials (many of them very good) but you have managed to create some of the very best I've ever seen in this series. They all build on each other, tie in so well, and bring something new and fresh to this online learning experience. I'm so glad I found you, wish I'd watched this series when I first started, and I look forward to seeing more. I think you've hit just the right note - don't change what you're doing unless YOU think you should. You obviously understand how to approach it, and just need to practice, as WE all do with the paint ;). Thanks again!

Thanks for these kind words Tim. It's good to hear that the work is adding some light to the shade of the daily life. I think there can be nothing better than being in the landscape, simply observing and absorbing and Folkestone is an excellent place to do that. When I've been there I've always been drawn to the pebbles memorial for the first day of the Battle of the Somme (Folk Stone, I think its called.) Profound and moving.

Your demonstration gives me a much better idea of how to actually finish a W/C painting. I haven't painted for awhile since I usually gave up at the ugly stage & didn't how to proceed. You have shown me that there's always decisions to be made & to let the painting tell you what is needed. That goes without saying, it does take a lot of experience to know how the paints will work with each other & water. I just discovered your work & it's perfect for where I want to go with my style.

There are some videos speeding up to show off the technology. It's impossible to learn the real point of knowledge, thank you very much for making such a long video, I don't want to miss a second, because I learned a lot of useful skills and corrected a lot of my troubles and mistakes in painting. Couldn't be more grateful, thank you teacher.

Thank you so much for sharing a full length tutorial. Don’t cut them short! They are giving me more confidence. As new to watercolor, I often feel discouraged after watching a cut video and trying it myself only to have been left scratching my head! Your work is soft and portrays the essence of watercolor beautifully.
