They won't because Mike tells people the truth, that you gotta lift hard to get gains, on the other hand these guys tell people not to lift hard because they want fat and lazy people to buy their programs and their partner's supplements, there's more money in that.

Listening to mind pump has just now made me realize the incredible value of even doing just one exercise. I’m 43 and I too always felt like if I couldn’t put in the whole hour there was no point. My workouts were extreme- I burned out my thyroid and got injured. The past few years I’ve really struggled with consistency and totally gave up for a full 6 months. I started listening 3 months ago and am currently doing whatever I can when I can - even if it’s just a few pushups while waiting for the laundry and completely changed my relationship with weight training and exercise in general. It makes a huge impact!!! If you can only manage 10 minutes a day - there is still a ton of value in doing so and it will add up over time. If you can squeeze in some fuller workouts even once or twice a week - you will see if greater benefits. Just do it!!!!!

This is so true. I'm pushing 50, and I feel bad when I do activities with my kids (rock climbing, high ropes course, scout trips backpacking\canoeing\etc.) and I see other parents that can't participate due to their health. I'd hate to have to miss these great opportunities to spend time with and bond with my kids.

Now after I become a father I understand even more, why being decent fit, and healthy, is so important. My daughter, who is 5yo now, demands a father to be active, to get outside, to explore the outdoors. It is impossible to imprint healthy habits on my kid If I don't serve as an example to her. Me and my wife are both into working out, hitting the gym at least 3 times/week, and sometimes we take our daughter with us and she sees us to what we are committed to and why it is important.

If you think it's bad in your 40's, wait 'til you hit the 50's. I was almost pre-diabetic, but my BMI was in the 'normal' area. I got pissed, started adding weights to my endurance work and I lost 15lbs and haven't looked back. Made a world of difference. Love that you're talking about this. Also, I love that you threw Bishop Barron some love. The guy is amazing. Thanks, guys. I think it was Pope JPII- "Freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want, it is the ability to choose the right thing." Boom. Rocked my world.

I’ve been searching for all this info for years. Wish I had come across podcast 20 years ago. 52 years old and coming off vegan diet. In 2 months, I’ve noticed a huge difference. Much stronger and more energy. Reverse dieting and lifting dumbbells in my basement. Keeping up with those 6 grandkids I got. I can’t thank you enough. 😘

I been taking great care of myself the past 5 years, nutrition and work out 6 days a week… I still get anxious and depressed, so I would be worse off if I didn’t take care of myself. Seeing my parents in such poor health is a great motivator for me to continue a healthy lifestyle. It’s almost selfish to not take care of yourself 😢

43:38 ❤ Beautiful input from Doug. What a great, authentic man. Amazing story to hear. This wasn’t even tied in, but it’s so relevant to health and fitness. Love and relationships, imagine having this experience and knowing we face a choice every day, doing the things to extend your own life and time with them vs not living with discipline and good health to the extent we can control it. We have to take care of ourselves as parents, and Doug is an INCREDIBLE example.

Now that Adam is on this GLP-1 and has these insights, I'll be interested to see if his advice for callers shifts from "eat at the absolute caloric ceiling that your metabolism will let you get away with" to maybe more of a "eat as little as necessary, so long as all caloric and macro needs are met". Since I'm heavily of the latter adage, for selfish reason, I would sure love to see it! 😁

At almost 54 years old I spent almost the last 30 years with the attitude of living for now. I hot to 300 pounds and stopped being able to do a lot of things. I’ve dropped 70 pounds now, I’m training again and feel much better and I’m a better dad. I just started MAPS Anabolic and looking forward to gaining muscle now that my body has adapted to the lower calories.

I’ve starting doing some garden work, specifically planting trees, 7 hours of digging and my body is pretty beat up. Right now I’m just doing some stretching to offset soreness and for the injury prevention . I wonder what you best prescriptions are for manual labourers and don’t remember hearing a podcast about it. Was thinking two sessions a week max and keeping the working sets around 12 a session , as far as rep ranges and how to push it I can’t really settle on a plan. Any ideas?

Just my 2 cents. I've used semaglutide and I think that it's so effective for other addictions/obsessions is that the 'high' you feel from food is gone. Ya, it tastes good, but you can stop. Like right in the middle of the best meal ever, when you're full you can just stop. I believe the same may apply to other substances. Also, the reduction in just overall stress from whatever hold food, etc has on you let's your whole body relax, hence the improvement in autoimmune symptoms. Sure, part is overall weight loss, but the improvement is dam near instant, way before any body composition change.
