This was great! The purple one that you considered a failure, near the end, was really gorgeous because of the colors...that piece could easily be used for collage.

I wanted to say thanks for your video. I have been trying to do this process for over a month, without success and today, whilst watching your video tried again. It worked. I had watched other videos, but it was you mentioning not to leave the image down for too long that did the trick. I am so happy. Look out now, I have a new habit. :)

Thanks Shannon...I was blown away by Gelli Arts recent video too and spent some time playing. Being super frugal I also found that I could clean the magazine page afterwards, when the paint was still wet and reuse them multiple times to get several images from the one image.

After I filmed this video I used rubbing alcohol to clean off one of pages that had dried black paint on it and discovered the same thing you did! That just makes the whole technique extra cool :)

I had such variable results with magazines I opted to photocopy the magazine page on laser printer... with a fine layer of color got consistent resist pattern in one pull. Allows you to keep original. Also coated photocopy with interference paints to get cool results... makes the black metallic....good technique with laser prints especially high contrast images.

It's all about the amount of black paint you apply and how long you leave the page on the paint. It really doesn't take long at all. Don't give up!
