@@TheOmahaIntrovertVery hard to find original pressings even here in the UK, so I would imagine much more so over in the US. You picked up some truly excellent stuff at the pop-up 👍🏻 As immediate as ‘Bachelor Kisses’ is - a truly excellent song - the rest of ‘Spring Hill Fair’ Is a grower. It was the last album of theirs I connected with, but it’s one of my favourites now for sure.

Great video and great channel! Looking forward to delve deeper 😊. Just a small comment re the Glove: If you're not into the lady's singing on that, you can also get a version with Robert's vocals on CD. He was initially going to sing on that, but some contractual hassle prevented that from happening. Also, that album cover is so cool - all those pop cultural references to decipher! The album title is also taken from a weird cult film.

Good Morning Hanna 🌞 - Unfortunately , Polydor would only allow Robert to sing on 2 tracks on Blue Sunshine & Severin wanted an album without Siouxsie so his girlfriend stepped in. You can hear Robert " guide " vocals on cd reissue. Comsats did Land after beng dropped by Polygram .. They cleaned up their sound & redid Independence Day & added some dreaded Simmons drums. Some great tracks are Mister Memory & Island Heart. That crazy Buffalo Bill had good taste listening to The Fall as well as he torments the Senators daughter. I'm one who saw Only Ones with The Who. Peter Perrret a Syd Barret aficionado ...Love Me & My Shadow on that album. The Only Ones pretty much back-up Johnny Thunders ⛈️ on his brilliant Steve Lillywhite Produced So Alone from 1978. I will order that John Mcgeoch book 📖 ...doubt the local B&N has it ! .. Just saw Interpol opening for Smashing Pumpkins 🎃 .. Good show. Bye Hanna 👋

That show had some real gems. I had forgotten all about The Glove! I will have to refresh myself to what they even sound like. The Low/Dirty 3 collaboration is new to me. Jim White is exceptional and deserves far more recognition. The Collin Newman LP is great. But I am a Wire obsessive and get something out of all their spin-offs. I will admit to being distracted by the great LPs on display behind you! I love so many of them! Get Happy!! may be my favorite back there. And finally so nice to hear The Go-Betweens getting a mention. I prefer Tullulah (on the shelf behind you) but Spring Hill Faor has some gems too. I was lucky enough to see them live a few times and they were always impressive. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Wow some excellent pick ups Hannah! Colin Newman A-Z is such a great debut (but as you say it’s really Wire’s 4th album). Commercial Suicide is also pretty good. I agree about the darkness of Alone. The TMC version is pretty stunning. I think all three of those TMC albums are very special. Nice for you to have the set of three. I adore them. I really want to get the John McGeoch book. He is without doubt one of the most important guitarists of the post punk genre. I am so jealous of your copy of Real Life…it’s a grail for me. Used to have it in my house but no longer. Much joy coming your way with that read and those musical additions. Enjoy.

Hi Hannah, Always good to see your videos. As much as I love Wires's first two albums, 154 is the one I come back to the most. What a brilliant band. I also agree with you about the db's. Their first two releases are essential for any Powerpop collection. And I also have The Only One's Special View. They had me at Another Girl, Another Planet. And Magazine's Real Life on your turntable? Shot By Both Sides intrigued the hell out of me the first time I heard it. As always, I appreciate your musical taste and hearing what you've bought.

Hey Hanna! Sorry it's been a while since I have commented, but I just went through a big relocation, first for myself and then for my son-in-law, plus I took a short vacation to the states, but I'm back now and loving Edmonton, Alberta. There are a lot of record stores, antique malls and thrift stores to explore and I have been finding a lot of great vinyl. It's great to be watching your videos again and also interacting with the vinyl community again. Low is one of my favorite bands that I still don't have any vinyl for. But I do have their rarities box set digitally at least and I love their experimentalism with minimalist styles. There is a big series of albums out there like that one with two bands working together to do new tracks, all of them are EPs I believe. It's a great series, but I don't think I have heard that one with Low. The Colin Newman solo album sounds very interesting, I'll check that one out. I understand what you say about being in the right mood for This Mortal Coil. I have only one of their studio albums, the one with Siren Song on it. That song just gets to me everytime, I love their version of it. Her vocals are so haunting and perfect for the song. Wow, great VCLT there. I scored with that Comsat Angels "Land" album about 8 months ago for the great price of $5 in perfect shape. Excellent pickups and it's great to see you again! Happy listening!

The "In The Fishtank" series on Konkurrent is really interesting. Getting two bands who've never worked together before into the studio for a couple of days to make a release seems like it could yield releases that maybe transcend the work of either band alone. I have #5 which has Tortoise paired up with The Ex. On the heels of Tortoise's 1998 album TNT I was doing a deep dive into their catalog purchasing everything I could get my hands on including the import remix series and uber rare early singles. In The Fishtank #5 dropped around this time and I bought it, but I think I could only stand a couple of listens, and I don't think I've even listened to it this century. I think that Low and Dirty Three might have more in common stylistically so that one probably works better.

Hey Matt! Great to read this is your favorite TMC LP! I'm finally giving Blood a full listen tonight as we just got back from Colorado and I'm excited to get back to my collection! Hope all is well!

it seems that the 2 first G-Stand boxsets of the Go-Betweens are going to be repressed. It migtht interest the fans as the current copies reach crazy prices. Robert Forster is working on the third and last one, it will be released next year.

Thanks for letting me know about an additional Go-Betweens box set! I have the most talked about ones on vinyl now. I also have some compilations on CD and The Friends of Rachel Worth on CD. Just love that band so much!

Hey, Hanna. Fabulous stack of wax there. Talking of Pauline Murray, do you have The Invisible Girls album? A Martin Hannett production with 2 or 3 standout tracks. Worth getting for the sound of Pauline's voice. I played Blue Sunshine to death in 83 & my copy is pretty scratchy. Like the look of that McGeoch book; my favourite guitarist. I had Land, but the production dates it whereas the earlier albums have a more timeless sound somehow. Have a groovy tune-filled weekend!

Hey Nigel! I'm a bit behind on comments but trying to catch up slowly. We attended quite the record show in Colorado last weekend! Video next week most likely. I do have Pauline's The Invisible Girls! A friend picked up a copy of it for me in California a few years ago! And John McGeoch as your favorite guitarist - yes! I wonder if I could come up with a top 10 or 20 list of favorite guitarists. Surely he's on my list, too! Cheers!

Hi Hanna. You were incredibly lucky considering how few vendors there were. I have been on the hunt for Magazine's Real Life for couple of years. No luck so far, but as you can guess i have seen other recrods by them just not that one. Pasi

Hey Pasi! Yeah, it was a really successful tiny show! I had tons of luck last weekend at the Denver record show, too. The winning streak continues! I hope you find a copy of Real Life soon. I bought mine from one of the Facebook vinyl selling groups.

Hey Kurt! Yeah, definitely check out this Low/Dirty Three collab! It'll be up your alley! As far as Go-Betweens I'm missing on vinyl, I still need Send Me a Lullaby and then I don't have the 3 more recent ones.

Wow that book is unbelievable!! I bought The Residents, Sight for sore eyes Vol 2, a great book of photos, covers and posters etc... Waiting for a miracle* is one of my favourite albums of all time. Don't lnow if you know Pete Wylie but his band WAH was great, had a band with Julian Cope and Ian McColloch before the other 2 became well known with Teardrop and Bunnymen.

Thanks, Brent! Hmm, I haven't heard of Pete Wylie/Wah! but now I'm quite intrigued. This is one of my favorite things about doing these videos - viewers like you chime in and introduce me to new artists/bands that I end up loving! Yay! And I'm jealous that you go to to see the Dirty Three in the 90s!

@@TheOmahaIntrovert I love Artist family trees. For example Brian Eno, and all the musicians he collaborated with. And Barry Adamson, originally from Magazine, who joined Nick Cave and then went onto do his own music from post punk, alternative, hip hop and jazz and blues. I met Mick Harvey from Boys next door, Birthday party, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey etc... He was playing with his own band, signed the album for me and got to take photos during the gig.

@@TheOmahaIntrovert Thanks! I'm still quite the fan of obscure music, although I haven't been seeking out and following music like I used to, but plan on getting back into it again some day. Life tosses some curve balls at you sometimes. Really enjoy your vinyl collection tours. Really takes me back!

I totally forgot about the Only Ones. I did indeed see them open for the Who in Los Angeles 1980. I just remember thinking they were OK. Bad idea having anyone open for the Who as they tend to overwhelm just about every band.

Ah, so very cool that you got to see The Only Ones open for the Who in '80! And very true that the Who blows any opening band out of the water but I am also biased! Cheers!

Actually, I have never heard of much of what you mentioned this time around - the (original) "Felt" band I know and love is from 1971 and a great psych LP! ...I do know The Only Ones - loved their 1st LP! Also know "Sneakers" - great power pop! I remember Christian Death - their 1st LP is a classic but heard nothing later than that one. ...and BTW, what the heck is "post-rock"? Rock is not "post' yet! Old school "punk" might be considered "post" though...
@TheOmahaIntrovert
@TheOmahaIntrovert Жыл бұрын
Hey Bill! I guess it's a good thing if you haven't heard of many of these! New discoveries for you! Yes, Christian Death's first LP is probably the most well known and highly rated! I have a a reissue. Yeah, post rock is a pretty weird genre term! It's more instrumental and experimental rock. Hope all is well!
