so I guess they are 'criminally underrated' because they are relatively easy to keep, slow to breed and mature, and attractive (yet not usually visible)...does this seem accurate? Thank you Rus and Invertebrate Dude.

I love big pine key! I drove down looking for the place where the water is clear, and it was big pine key, i stopped and that's as far as i needed to go.

They really are secretive, out of the 15 species i keep, these are the ones i never see 😅 i dont think i ever seen one out, they are usually just slighty underneath the substrate. I never seen them eat either but i know they are since foods dissappearing and theres frass. Hopefully when i have more numbers and when they get bigger i can observe them more.

@@Aquarimax I got mine from Invertebrate dude and Edwin Lopez gave me a few more in a recent order. He posted a video of his BPK colony and I can't wait for mine to get to those numbers so I can actually see them.

Great video! Very interesting, to hear the story about such a new species. But in one thing I have to disagree: Invertebrate Dude´s idea for the name-suffix "beauty"! They are beauties, fore sure. But which isopod is NOT??? Imagine you have several daughters: Which one should get the middle-name "Beauty"?

There are two things to consider-there are some invasive mantids that can be collected from the wild with a benefit to the environment. , so if those exist in your area, that could be an option. There are also many vendors of mantids. If you live in the USA, try www.bugsincyberspace.com
