What an amazing machine! It’s good seeing some REAL automotive journalists reviewing this car and giving us some legitimate feedback. A few weeks back, Doug Demuro scored this glorious cars handling an 8/10 by simply taking it out for a 5 min spin in some unremarkable subarb. Not by carving any canyon roads or pushing it to the limits at a road coarse. I find that pathetic actually since anyone who’s a driving enthusiast will tell you that the GT3 chassis is one of the most well balanced of any vehicles at any price.

Doug demuros scoring method has to compare this car with a 0 being a lada niva and a 10 being a 918 Spyder, given that scale I think an 8 is reasonable.

@Jesse Mitchell Yea but this is so much fun to drive. It doesn't really bite back, and it has that glorious flat six. The Carrera GT is probably more of an occasion to drive, however, with its engine and design.

I'd bet every penny to my name that the next GT3 will still be NA, turbos don't improve emissions that much and the GT3 is a very small percentage of porsches total sales anyways.

@@JMartinni A coupe will give you better handling and a smoother, more comfortable ride. With no fixed roof, convertibles are not as structurally sound as a coupe, and as a result they’re more prone to scuttle shake and cabin noise. In rollover situations convertibles aren't as safe as coupes either.

Amrit Swain yes a convertible has less structural rigidity than a coupe, but as he says the difference is negligible, more importantly rigidity does not alone a sports car make. There are many ingredients to a sports car and I would argue that the very finest drivers cars are indeed convertibles from the humble MX5, and Caterhams to the Ariel Atom and McLaren 600lt convertible.

I’m sorry, but you can’t claim the PPF doesn’t strangle this motor. Compare the audible qualities of this car to a 2017 GT3 RS and be reminded just how suffocating and nanny-state the PPFs really are.

I can’t help but feel you struggled for footage in this video I must of seen the car go through the same green fenced part of road 7 times. Surely you can do a better job with one of the purist cars of today’s generation.

The next GT3 + RS 992.1 will be NA. GT3 will be available in manual. Porsche CEO has confirmed that the next fastest 911 will be a hybrid. Also we won’t see hybrid 911s until the 992.2 Turbo S in 4 years or so. The ultimate 991 to buy is the GT2RS.

20 years ago, there was ample Porsche character in every model, from base model to the top end of the range. Nowadays it seems you need to get one of the limited edition, high-dollar GT cars to get that Porsche magic anymore. It's a damn shame. This car is great but Porsche used to be a company where all their cars were great, not just a small slice of limited edition halo models above $150k.

I always hate when people "test" these extreme sports cars on wet roads. You have to drive the thing at 6/10ths just to avoid wrecking it. While you can still get a sense for what the car is about, most of what make the car really special just can't be realized in these weather conditions.

I think Porsche will if not should go hybrid for the next GT3. Hybrid system would reduce emissions massively and allow it to stay NA.

What a shame that this video has ruined the engine noise, you can hardly hear it, the wind buffeting has covered it up. I've got the gt3 and the noise is incredible and his reaction is justified!!

particulate filters do rob some of the flat 6 sound. No getting away with that unfortunately. Otherwise a great car if you’re one of Porsche’s VIP = Valuable Important Person.

It's a parts bin special with a fiddly roof with looks which are inferior compared with the purity of the regular narrow body coupe 991.2 shape.. Nice as it is, and it is.. Unless you are more interested in the collectability of the Speedster and future value, frankly I can't see the point of paying a stupid amount of money for something which is almost no different to my 991.2 C2S coupe.. apart from the GT3 engine which still doesn't come close to justifying the price difference. Hats off to Porsche though and they'll be a dream to drive.. as is my C2S..

Has anyone been paying attention to what the C8 actually is? Try better than any 458 ever built, and thats just the base model. Its coming to Britain for 65k, and its already better than a Carrera S AS JUST A PROTOTYPE. GM is the performance car company that produces some of the best cars on planet earth at this moment.

They churn out what, 30-50K Corvettes a year? Why would you even think of comparing a Corvette to a car so rare that dealers are getting away with 100 grand ADMs? The C8 is much larger, has no manual option and an engine that isn't nearly as unique as the Speedster's. It will also be worth peanuts after a couple of years whereas these Speedsters will never go below what anyone paid for them until there literally is no more gasoline. And then they'll be put in museums and collectors' living rooms. Looking at 0-60 times or pricing is completely and utterly missing the point.
