The Porsche Taycan is generally considered to be the EV sports car of the moment. Incredible performance, 250 mile range, yet still a proper 4 seater. And the top of the tree Turbo S model is ballistic. Yes, it costs £140,000, but it has 750 hp, gets to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds and goes on to 162mph. Absolutely nothing can come close. Except perhaps, its petrol powered relative, the £140,000 Porsche Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid. This boasts nearly 700 hp, gets to 62 in 3.5 seconds and goes on to nearly 200mph. And its lighter. Test 1 - road manners.

Absolutely, they really need to stop breaking these reviews into such small parts, especially because they put so much time between the upload of each part, nearly a week!!! If they posted them 3 days in a row it wouldn't be as bad but overall, JUST PUT IT ONE VIDEO FIFTH GEAR.

No pal, people are awake to the climate sham and the removal of the internal combustion engine over time. High performance cars are about much more than straight line speed and ev's will never compete, fact! I will never buy or own an EV, the human rights issue for the batteries and inability to recycle is enough for me... Hence, the sooner people protest about the narrative before its too late and we lose the cars soul for good, the better for every car enthusiast!

The ancient gas sucking and unreliable Panamera likely consumed $300+ in fuel during this test while the Taycan consumed $10 in electricity yet the Taycan is no less capble or fun to drive. End of story.

I admit I stopped the video and went to do other stuff when I realized even the normal car was a hybrid. Hybrids/electics just do absolutely nothing for me. The laughable "we're going all electric in 10 years" is even worse.

What u really need to know is that taycan are the most returned Porsche currently. Regular electric problems. I was going to swap to a taycan but soooo pleased I stayed pan turbo se. Hybrids awesome only wish I had the most recent larger battery, but they’re impossible to find. No such problem with taycan there’s loads around. There’s a reason for that.

Another review of 140K cars which will be approachable to how many? What about a comparison of the two baseline models ? Still expensive, still taycan vs panamera excitement, but also more realistic for the market

I hope Porsche make a full electric Panamera after 2030 because the Taycan although a great car is much smaller that the Panamera. I drove both and ended up with the Panamera, much better to drive, performance not much off the electric but nicer to live with.

Why do they always do these comparisons with the hybrid Panamera? The non hybrid Turbo S, is lighter and faster and has vastly superior handling and braking to the hybrid.

So a comparison that just has these two guys racing up and down the road. No costs of running the vehicles no cost of servicing no cost of miles per kilowatt or miles per gallon in comparison. No mention of depreciation. And always comparing the most powerful versions of each car which is not the one that most people buy. They should have compared the 3 l e-hybrid to the Porsche tycan . Very very poor show

Panamera is 100x better I was appreciating the beauty of the Panamera, and then they suddenly switch over to the ugly Taycan... 3:08 The Taycan just seems awkward, too low and ugly. Furthermore the Interior seems crammed, and the colour of those seats are disgusting, also no sunroof??

cars are never going to go any faster ? when you get around 2 seconds to 60 , where do you go from there ? the tyre need to grip to the surface no matter how much power you have of how light the car is .... maybe in 5 years cars will be doing 0 - 60 in minus 3 seconds like back to the future ........ ha ha

They are a bit soulless, but no more soulless than 90% of diesels or 4-pot petrols really. Don't get me wrong, I daily drive an NA flat-6 equipped Porsche for a reason, but I do feel like people overstate this issue because of how horrifically soulless most ICE cars are anyway. For example, I find a Model 3 drivetrain has just as much soul as the current Megane RS...none.

@@riptiide9285 nah they really are noisy and annoying. I'm a car guy for a long time, but I can admit that living in a world without a bunch of noisy engines is genuinely better. And for the 90+% of the world who never really cared about cars, guess what? They think ALL our engines are annoying, and they're happy they're going too!! Car enthusiasts don't have to be dinosaurs, but those of you that are, hoo-boy...you are really proud of being really out of date and it's really embarrassing.

@@ApothecaryTerry Great point. Everyone says ICEs have "soul" yet 99% of what people can buy are generic, functional appliances with very little "soul" and not much noise. The oil shills love to pretend that just because one exotic gets a cool V12, all engines are that cool. Nope! Total lie! My VW's engine works fine but it barely has character and uses 5x the energy an equivalent EV would. I see no reason to be sad about that sort of engine being replaced by an EV, and as you say, that's basically all the engines.
