We're out of the Electrifying studio and back on the test track with Ginny Buckley and Tom Ford for an in-depth test of the awesome top-of-the-range Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
One of the joys of electric cars is their instant speed, even a humble Peugeot e-208 can thrash most things in a traffic light Grand Prix. But whilst speed and electric power go hand in hand what we've been missing is a genuinely sporting electric car. Until now. Until the Porsche Taycan.
This technical masterpiece is capable enough to take on any petrol-powered supercar and seems to almost defy physics. See what our experts thought of it and if Tom managed to keep his lunch down after Ginny's spirited drive....

2:45 This spec with the all black exterior, mixed with the yellow brake calipers, the yellow licence plate and the gold details in the Porche badge is gorgeous!

This is the only Taycan review where I see Porsche's advantage over Tesla mentioned - suspension and steering setup. Great Job presenting so many facts and such an engaging manner.

And better build quality, and 4 wheels steering, and 800v system, and not having to wait 30 min for the battery to warm up to have full acceleration, and being able to repeat those hard accelerations many times over before any power loss comes in to effect...

The number of steps in Tesla to launch seemed ridiculous. Pressing so many buttons, making sure you don't want your mummy, didn't do another launch a few minutes ago. The whole launch in the Tesla seems to be a marketing gimmick. When i saw the Taycan,a different story. Bought one straight away. Everything about it is just so good, including the price for a porsche with this level of performance.

Most entertaining, informative and fun review ever! 1:26 Ginney "Will you go fast again" 1:31 Hair flying forward as brakes applied!. I thought my I-Pace was fun but this is a must once my Salary Sacrifice contact comes up. Tax wise its a no brainer.

I'm wearing my pelican bib to catch all the drool. Followed one of these in traffic this morning. Foolishly let someone into traffic.....I couldn't see the Taycan. I was actually disappointed. Is that sad? Unfortunately it's well out of my price range. But I can appreciate an outstanding piece of engineering and in it's true sense an outstanding piece of automotive art. The review was very well done the information was presented in an informative and entertaining way. There are quite a few YT channels who could learn a lot from this channel. Keep up the good work.

I think it would make most sense to have a home charging solution as well. Charge up 10-20mins at the Autobahn and then do the rest at home. It is not a necessity to complete a charging cycle at the Autobahn.

The charging isn't as fast as you are lead to believe. Yes it charges at 270kwh but it has a 93kw battery to fill which offers around 220 real world miles. A Tesla model 3LR will charge at 250kwh but only has to fill a 75kw battery to travel over 270 real world miles. So the Tesla will travel further faster.
