EDITED FOR DURATION - Caren Z. Turner, a Democratic lobbyist from Tenafly, has resigned as a commissioner from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, after an investigation was opened into what agency officials would only describe as "profoundly disturbing conduct." Turner's resignation allegedly involved her intervention in a recent traffic stop in connection with her daughter. Turner apparently flashed her Port Authority badge in an effort to intercede with police officers on the scene.

Caren Turner forgot who runs the streets around here. It's definitely not an unpaid Port Authority Commissioner or a 20 year resident of Tenafly. This old lady throwing names around like a second grader in the playground, shameful! Officers maintained their cool. Using her position to get those over privileged kids off the hook, when that didn't work, she tried to use the kids' educational background - I only wonder what their major in college is - "history of potatoes" or something useful like that I bet. This story makes me thankful for growing up dirt poor and not having anything handed down to me.

You want to know how an ARROGANT/Self-Centered person "Does NOT" apologize: Ms. Turner, in a statement, apologized for her tone and “off-color language,” ***and then called for the Tenafly Police Department to review its policies “with respect to tone and de-escalation, so that incidents like this do not recur.”*** They continue to blame other people, even if the other people were 100% innocent.

This is not a Republican vs. Democrat issue, or liberal vs conservative. It is not a race thing. She is a liberal, registered Democrat appointed by a Republican Governor. That's how politics work. No matter your political views, most of us agree she acted badly, the Officers did their job correctly and she resigned because there is no place for that kind of interaction between a Commissioner and Police Officers. Was she impaired? Who knows. We will never know. Let us all just be glad this person is no longer in that position and move on.

The Port of Authority is sooooo grossly incompetent and corupt to have allowed the appointment of Caren Turner as “Commissioner of Ethics” overseeing 4,000 PA police officers, when obviously she has no idea what the definition of the “Ethics” means and she has no experience in Police Policing Making and Police Training. Again she is nothing more than a product of political patronage without a truly functional role and costing the taxpayers. To Caren Turner, her Commissioner role means having the ability to boast influence at the PA and selling access to others willing to pay her. Plus there are all sorts of freebees, travel expense write-offs and numerous advantages she gets which is costing the NJ taxpayers big time. She is making income off this position even when it pays no salary.
