Great video. Back in the days I used the small HD evf. Really love evf, because I find it hard to pull focus on field monitors. I might check this one out if it gets available in Germany

Great video. I have the bm6kPro and the evf. I wish it wasn't in the middle. Are you going to add the portkey to your rig, get the bm's or skip it all together?

Great review as always! Thanks for that. Question: You mention that what you like is that it's compact, .. but it actually looks very big on top of a BMPCC.. no? Almost as bulky as a monitor actually.. or at least more fragile or more exposed... I'm considering to buy the new FX3, hence my interest.. but also looking into monitors (actually, from the same brand as they seem a good alternative to SmallHD). After use, would you recommend EVF or monitor? ( There is one thing I also like about monitor is that when you shoot on your own, and you have to interact with your protagonists, you can look at them while keeping your framing in sight .. If you look into a EVF, they feel like you are completely not paying attention to them )

I have got it and love it. About the buttons... true, I used a bit of sandpaper and used it to MENU button and a small nive pattern on the EXIT key Works like a charm

Awesome review!! Any tips for gain settings using the mke 600 with the 6k? having trouble getting clean audio and was wondering if your prefer mini xlr or headphone jack for input?

Thanks !! I usually have to set the gain at 85% at least since the amps of the bmpcc6k are quite weak. I prefer mini xlr when possible :).

One of the hardest things about switching from the Sony A7 line to the Pocket 4K was loosing the evf, especially in a minimal setup. Always love your work!

@@gunnarbjarkiii if I would’ve been heavily invested in e-mount glass it would’ve been a different story. I primary rented or adapted lenses to the a7sii and fs7. Now I’m using vintage and ef lenses on the pockets and for the most part it’s been great. I also never got into autofocus which would be a great reason to go with the a7siii or fx6

@@PBentz28 well, I have 4 lenses for the sony e-mount, but the bmpcc4k looks so so much better than the a7siii and the fx9 in my oppinion, also I could get the bmpcc4k with a speed booster, 2 or 3 lenses and a battery for simulare price as the a7siii body alone. and it comes with davinci resolve studio version.

Best video review I've seen so far on this EVF! May I ask, I shoot on an A73 and use my Ninja V to record the footage. How can I incorporate this EVF into my rig? Camera to NinjaV out to EVF? Many thanks again. :)

Thanks so much, really glad you like it :) !! My monitor doesn't have an hdmi out so you're lucky haha. And Yes I think it would work that way. HDMI camera to monitor IN and then Hdmi out from monitor to EVF.

Hey man great video! I have a question for you outside of the EVF though... I noticed that you're shooting in really cold temperatures with snow on the ground. I've had a lot of issues with my BMPCC 4K in cold weather under 32° F. Have you noticed any issues with your pocket camera starting in the cold weather? If not what do you attribute that to? External power? I've been just running the Canon LP-E6 batteries in order to stay lightweight and minimal. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks and love your channel!

Hey, thanks a lot for the positive feedback :). And no, never had any issues and shot with it in Antarctica in pretty cold and windy temp. I think the battery pack helps a lot, I found that using the canon ones in extreme cold get you about 2/3 their normal life. But then again I’ve used the pocket 4K in NZ with the canon ones only in winter in sub zero temps and had no issues either. I’ve actually made a video about shooting in the cold with the bmpccs if that helps :). Cheers

@@OfTwoLands Yup I've seen that video and that's why I wanted to reach out about this one. I reached out to black magic because I thought maybe I had a faulty unit but they claim that the operational temperature of the camera is from 32° F and up. So any issues I have with the camera starting below freezing are not covered under any kind of manufacturer warranty. I think next I'm going to try those new Manfrotto LP-E6N batteries that came out. I guess they use a gel which means they're more insulated and maybe better in cold weather. Outside of that I guess I'm going to have to start carrying a battery pack but that's such a bummer cuz it's so heavy and I do long hikes... Thanks for the info!

It looks great Im thinking of buying it, but I have one question.. I know that it cant match resolution on BMP but it doesnt matter, the only question is?! Can I shoot in 6k format, will EVF receive downscaled resolution or it cant get signal from camera... or I need to shoot at max resolution 4K... thanks for feedback

Yes, you just have to use peaking either on the cam or evf :).

@@OfTwoLands Sunrise is 09:30 and sunset is 15:30 now. Doesn't help that during the day it is either cloudy or raining :-) Long since there was nice sunshine as in your video for more than 15 min 😁 But now it turns the 22. and light will return.

Buy a super cheap blackmagic Bi-Directional unit for £59 and have many inouts and outputs and it's tiny. I'm using my Ursa EVF on my 6K Pro like that

I've read that sending two power cables from a battery with a Bmpcc6k can fry the Hdmi connection on the camera. Good to see that hasn't happened with you

I think the issue is when you power a monitor and the camera for example. That EVF draws pretty much nothing :).

Hey, Yes I would absolutely recommend it !! That's the bag I use on all my trips (work related or not). I use the 31L for my video Kit (bmpcc6K + battery + lenses etc) and the 21L for my photo kit (Eos R + lenses). In doubt get the 31L, it isn't that big and you can really fit a decent amount :).
