Wooton was just prepared for petch here. I didn’t even see it as close from this angle, he was a clear winner. He was prepared to catch kicks, sweep and use his size to help take back control of the clinch. That’s what he needed to do to win. Mitigate how Petch enters the clinch (his teeps), try to blunt his momentum once he gets you in the clinch, encourage him to fight where he’s more vulnerable, with the tools he’s not as adept at using.

Very close fight. In Thailand Petch would have taken decision. Not necessarily biased, just different emphasis on certain particularities (later rounds, clinch dominance etc). Great fight. Wooton surprisingly strong in the clinch in early rounds and beautiful kick catching and countering. Great fight.

That elbow looked brutal

i could be wrong but i think the visual size difference is due to greg walking round at say 70 odd kg and cuts weight where as petch walks around in the mid to late 60s kg as thais are used to fighting weekly/monthly and i guess this fight is a 68-72 kg fight

This fight was extremely close. I scored it a draw. I scored rounds 1 and 2 for Greg. Round 3 I scored even. Rounds 4 and 5 I scored for Petchboonchu.

petchboonchu... one of my favorite fighters due to him being an epic clincher... Something seemed off thought during this fight... Felt like to me he was sick or not feeling well... His kicks were slower than usual and he wasn't AS aggressive as he is in his usual fights... hmmmmm... a dive maybe? feeling under the weather? Either way it's always good to see good ol petch in action...

Because a champion loses a fight it's suspect for a dive? That's a slap in the face to both of those fighters. It's total disrespect. Fighters from Thailand give practically give their whole lives to fighting. Try telling any of them to throw a fight they'd probably kill you.

He came up against a man who is a force. Believe me. I sparred many times with Greg. He's so strong and fit with amazing technical skills and concerntration. He dominated fighter 20kgs heavier. All the best 🙏

Petch's strength is his clinch. For a Thai he is quite big so he can just walk through the Thai opponents. Against a bigger European opponent that becomes a problem.

They both weighed in at 63.5

@@remyedmonds960 when was the weigh in? The day before or on same day?
@remyedmonds9604 жыл бұрын
Day before would of been. Still was a decent fight. I do think more like a draw tbh. But home soil ;) in Thailand Greg probably would of lost.

@@remyedmonds960 I fought Thais lighter than me. I've given 4-5kg before. They do have a ton of experience but at the end of the day, 10 fights or 100, doesn't really matter. How you walk to the ring and deal with it matters. I think it's just one of them things. Underdog won. Greg looks really awkward or something, don't mean that in a bad way. Like he'd be really frustrating to fight. Petchboonchu looks frustrated.
