Our FIRST E-BIKE ADVENTURE with APP-BIKE Rental | New Forest UK | Vlog 498

Whilst camping at the New Forest Caravan Club Centenary site with Bob Earnshaw and Crafty Campervanners we decided to have our first e-bike adventure with APP-BIKE electric bike hire. This turned out to be a fun day with Pete taking the role as navigator and Sue, Trev and Bob making up the four "rookie bikers" in the beautiful New Forest.
This collaboration involved Bob and Trev sharing all the footage from both cameras and each creating our own video for you to view. Please watch Bob's video via this link to compare.

Ah I missed out in a lovely bike ride! I thought the woman on the red mobility scooter was going to take you out Trev! 🤪. Nice to see a mix of yours and Bob’s footage - great video 👍🏻💕x

Thanks Kaz, we had a right laugh. Rookie bikers stood out but who would have guessed 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️ Pete was great with the map reading and getting us to the castle and back. Without him we would have been totally lost 🤣 Trev

What a fantastic idea to rent ebikes - also great to see you guys all out together and sharing material. Thanks guys, It was an interesting and enjoyable experience. Both sharing video footage and hiring the bikes. With this kind of scheme available, it puts into question whether it’s worth us actually buying E-bikes 😃🚴🚴‍♀️ Trev

Grand ride out on the bikes - great fun 👍🤣 Select turbo and grab yourself the yellow jersey…. Peloton coming through 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴🏻🚴‍♂️🤣 I’d probably still be at the bike stand trying to work out how to lock and stop the tariff - where’s Mr Earnshaw when I need him 🤭🤣

Nice to see this collaboration. I love my ebike, I’m on my second one now, had my first one 7 years ago. I used it with Adz and Zoe last Saturday and we did nearly 10 miles. Steve did the ride on a push bike but we both noticed that since we had Covid earlier in the year our breathing was more laboured. We chose not to use them in the Isle of Wight. Thankfully Madge is only 6 metres and we managed to find places to park her. Take care Gill

Hi Gill, I would have enjoyed the bike ride at Hermanfest but I have been resisting the large investment on an ebike purely because I haven’t used our normal bikes. If more of these bike hire schemes become available it makes it less likely we will buy them. It’s a bit chicken and egg for us. 😃🚴‍♂️🚴 Trev

It was great fun but wish we had headgear. Would have felt more safe with hi-vis too but it was a bright clear day. You would have really enjoyed the ride, it was beautiful along the lanes 😃👍🏻🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️ Trev n Sue

Thanks Andy, the club has this hire scheme on a number of their sites and it seems like a great way of trying bikes before you invest a large sum of money on a bike. Based on the number of times we would use an electric bike, we may just continue to rent them 👍🏻😃🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️ Trev

Love my electric bike. I won’t go on without my helmet having fallen off and hitting my head when I hired one. Slipped on mud so was hard work but still loved it 😁

Yes we will not take bikes out without head protection next time. We accept the dangers and that’s why Sue and I both wore long trousers 😊 Trev

Hi all, really enjoyed your electric bike get together. The roads looked a bit hairy scarey! But you made it. The castle looked fab and you were greeted with a sea view. I really thought you were going to collide with the lady on the mobility scooter she didn’t slow down at all ha ha . We’ve got electric bikes but I’ve only ridden mine twice I’m a little worried about it, Tony has taken his bike when we’ve gone away in the van and he goes off for a little joint while I stay with our dog. Great video Trev x

Thanks Julie, We are still not sure whether the investment into ebikes is worth it purely based on how many times we would use them. We have folding bikes that never come out of the shed 😃🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️ Trev

@@PoshcatsCamping I’m a bit unsure about two bikes on the bike rack as they are quite heavy, although it says it can hole the weight of 2, I don’t want to damage our new van 😳x

@@gallivantinggalantes Check with your dealer. They should be able to indicate the maximum weight allowed on the carrier. Your electric bikes are probably about 20Kg each with the batteries on board. You may be able to reduce the weight by removing the batteries and the front wheel (sometimes the front wheel is removed also as protection against theft of the bike). Failing that, the more expensive alternative is a tow bar and a special rack to fit the tow bar. This is what we are opting for as they are not high up on the back of the van so its easier to lift them on. Just ideas, but it may help you :) Trev

This was a great collaboration. I love cycling and have two bikes but neither are electric! They are great on the flat but on an incline some assistance would be greatly appreciated. 😁 Thanks.

It’s definitely noticeable when the pedal assist kicks in. We had a lot of fun and I am sure we will do it again with proper headgear next time 😃 Trev
