I noticed some keyboard warriors who love to criticize... Michele is one of the best portrait photographers out there. It will serve you very well to listen to what she says and maybe buy her book(s) if you need something to read. Instead of judging, pay attention.

15:20 Haha, exactly :-) My single biggest problem with photographing people is that they have seen some star photographer's shot by the waterfall and they want _that picture_, when it might not be the best in the given setting. A lot of them are control freaks, too, trying to boss me around and tell me what to shoot from which angle. It's pretty frustrating, to be honest, and sometimes it's hard to make the effort to stay polite and deny them kindly when taking the pics is taking up all my focus... This is hard work and a hands-on recap of a session like this one is a great resource! Thanks for the vid, I really enjoyed it, and took away some great tips!

I agree ... this is hard work! People just don't understand how much it takes out of you to direct these many people and shoot for 90 minutes straight ... I think these are really good photos straight out of the camera ... and good tips on how to save time shooting so many people

I realize this is an old post, but after viewing I had to comment. Great lighting! Over use of the soft focus in IMHO. I would also advise fellow photographer's to avoid cropping off the subjects hands, fingers, toes, and limbs at odd places like ankles, knees, elbows, etc. These group sessions are indeed difficult to organize, so kudo's for your skill set in this arena!

Absolutely beautiful work! It is refreshing and inspirational to view such artistic and aesthetically pleasing photography that was produced predominantly “in camera” with extremely high quality optics, and without the all too common reliance on Photoshop and Lightroom to compensate for lack of actual talent. I wish I could afford your training, I have no doubt it would be worth every penny.

Not retouched?? Are you sure. I could be wrong, but correct me here. 1. Vignette on all the corners cause by 2 things . LR or PS edit or sigma lenses. 2. The color looks like a sony lens would do. Let's hear from you .

how do you get that blackish border around the edge ?
@aerincollins1175
@aerincollins1175 4 жыл бұрын
Photoshop or lightroom can do that. I think it's called Vignette . Or by Oval and dial it backwards for the blackish color. The other side would be white. Whatever you prefer . I also believe that it could be the lens . (Sigma) does that . But you can edit just to bring the focus point to your subject . She's saying that its straight out of camera which I hardly believe !

Cutting the shoulders off and stuff.
@Scorehound
@Scorehound 6 жыл бұрын
That isn't an issue. There are certain body parts that are fine to cut off. Others not so much. Taking off a bit of the shoulders isn't bad, it's cutting off joints, like fingers and hands that can be troublesome.

Tracey Melbourn A reflector is not "controlling light" it's reflecting and diffusing, simple as that, and I would bet money that your works sucks considering you don't understand the importance of light or light in your background etc, direct sun etc. A reflector or diffuser isn't going to miraculously give you beautiful light, we location scout for a reason and this is every photographer ever. Let's see your work, people like you talk so much shit but your work typically tends to suck.
@traceymelbourn7032
@traceymelbourn7032 7 жыл бұрын
It's absolutely controlling the light. YOU are determine where and how intensely it's goes hence controlling and shaping it get a clue

The photos are not bad, not great either. They are just normal photos done by a photographer who earns her living out of it, has professional equipment and some knowledge of the things. But i don't definitely consider them worthy of a seminar, webinar, how you want to call it, on a professional photography youtube channel. Photos of a family and kids in somebody's house ,nothing to write home about, nothing to be blown away with. She was talking about location, light falloff, etc. Why didn't she use some strobe powerful lights and take an assistant to help her, move the people around a bit, make use of that background of the desert, etc, etc. She just went with a camera and a 70-200 lens on it, prepared the shots to some degree, used natural light, and got good (rarely very good, sometimes mediocre) results. Not a teaching material here

+krzeselko Is that just what you do for kicks? Is your 'best work' wandering the internet spouting unwelcome diatribe to make yourself feel better about whatever makes you such an unpleasant person? The author went to a lot of effort to share some of her experience. For free. For your benefit. So here's an idea: if you don't like what she has to offer, move on and don't be a jerk.
@krzeselko
@krzeselko 8 жыл бұрын
+Jason L Hey, I see shite, I feel compelled to point it out ... that's what forums are for. Someone pointed out my crap some time ago and it done me good. Sorry to insert 'negative energy' to your magical little pc world, where families walk dressed all white on a beach while Kenny G is playing in the background and everyone is talented, tolerant, special and full of cheese.
@alpinewander
@alpinewander 8 жыл бұрын
+krzeselko That's only what you think forums are for: to spew vitriol in an impotent effort to make yourself feel important. The internet is full of people like you - spewing 'negative energy' and unsolicited criticism because you're incapable of anything constructive or insightful. And you hate that others - like this video's author - can do what you can't. So, like you, when I see 'shite' I'm also compelled to point it out. The big difference is that for reasons nobody cares about, you troll the internet foisting petty criticisms at random targets that don't meet your standards. I, in turn, just move on when content doesn't inspire me, but will absolutely stop to hold a mirror up to the trolls who've made news and content sharing forums such a toxic wasteland, and ask if you like what you see. Because nobody else does. So, like others before me, according to your claims, I'm pointing out your crap. I strongly suspect you won't think it 'done you good', but perhaps you'll be moved to spend the time invested in pointless comments in finding content that actually inspires you.
@krzeselko
@krzeselko 8 жыл бұрын
+Jason L Forums are for opinions and comments, both positive and negative. Where does it say we can only express positive ones? Maybe in your little libtard world.... When I see something I like, I also point it out so your argument is invalid. Stop projecting your neurotic crap on me. I believe what I said was constructive and insightful because I provided reasons why I think it was shite. Just because you're a buthurt little fairy, unable to process that and taking this whole thing personally doesn't make it otherwise.
@alpinewander
@alpinewander 8 жыл бұрын
+krzeselko Your impetuous rant is exactly what I'd expect from a forum troll. I hope that's not your best work.
