It's a counter you have to time right, you can't do it without getting hit/counter a hit

@@Muyshtic If you mean the one using 2 Bugs, yeah but much shorter (can't hold it that long) an you can delay the counter because it is input triggered after you took the hit^^ Edit: not similar to the 2 longsword counters introduced in world

@@JackDaniels-ct5wz ahhh okay that makes sense, gonna have to practice to get used to it, after only using tackle ever since world every other counters and timing makes me mess up so much cause of muscle memory 🤣

@@Muyshtic it uses 2 wirebugs and you still can tackle, tackle is just a normal move in rise also o.o

They used Strong Arm Stance, like, many times There was a lot of positioning, sure, but Sunbreak's focus on countering and i-frames is undeniable

@@Sorrelhas of course they did. It's a great tool. Now Can you Say he spammed it? No you can't strongarm stance anytime. It would be like saying that all you have to do in World is to spam rolls. It's Silly.

@@sludgewave4786 People aren't trying to diminish the skill of Speedrunners when they complain about counter spam They are complaining about the core design of the game, which is making counters and guardpoints leagues better than most other strategies in the game As I said, the run is amazing, but in many cases the best gameplan is standing still and pressing the respective counter buttons, which is really boring

@@Sorrelhas Oh ok, I get your point, you are just talking about the best strategy. The same way people use to say to spam SAED or Spam P rush. I just found it demeaning when some weapons don't have the counter as their optimal strategy. GL, HH, LBG, IG, and Hmr. And I would even say SnS since you still have to do P.rush a lot (the counter depletes 2 wirebugs so you can't spam it that much even with wirebug whisperer and it's 50/50 between P.rush and Shoryugeki even in speedruns). And monsters all have anti counter moves in sunbreak, so you can't just wait for the attack and press the button to counter it. You have to counter the last attack of the combo and use your "normal" tools to get there. So no the best game plan is still to recognize the attack and act accordingly and then go for the counter, it's not much different that finding an opening in old school MH. But yes the game is centered around counters, I know some hunters don't like it but IMO I think the portable team did a great job in making all counters fit each weapon gameplay. Hunts are faster, and it's more about the style and the performance than being methodic and patient. And I can understand why other hunters liked the old school way better. I do like it too, but I also like to experiment with new things. Especially now that I played GenU so much (adept and valor styles were pretty counter centered). You say it's boring, well it's your opinion, I can't disagree more, but to each their own. I'm really having fun doing solo runs like I did in every MH. Solo MR valstrax has become one of my favorite fight in all MH. But maybe I like the game a lot cause i'm a CB main (But I play all weapons). And with CB you already rely on guardpoints into attacks. I was using the same exact strategies in world and 4U, I just used only guard points instead of doing guard points + counters. And it was just slightly slower. They gave me new tools and a great finisher (axe hopper into SAED) so I'm happy.

@@Sorrelhas And exactly how is this a problem? That’s like saying you want to fight without having any defensive options. I main switch axe, and my god I fucking HATED the pre-sunbreak playstyle because I had no defensive options whatsoever. Some monster were ridiculously annoying to go up against because they would attack and move around for ages, and without counters/blocks, it was hard to keep any uptime whatsoever. Ever since they added elemental burst counter, switch axe is opened to a plethora of new opportunities to keep uptime and not feel like you have to run around 24/7. I very much welcome this counter/block orientated apporoach, as every weapon *SHOULD* have one, at least in my opinion.

ESPECIALLY not from a GREAT SWORD... But that's just me tho 🤷

It's never too late to learn GS, it's a weapon that requires a lot of patience at first but is super satisfying to play with time and practice.

Yeah because the TCS will always be better better then going through the whole 3 Charged Slashes and missing the last one. Tho I sometimes fully charged the first one skip the second and go straight to TCS

It's an option in settings to not auto mount when hitting monsters :)
