Don't have a clue what I'm going to do with the other movements since I only wrote this in 3 days. I'm sure it won't be this crazy though. Let me know your thoughts. #justiceforsalieri

the beginning sounds good but as sone other people have already pointed out it sounds a bit messy so it makes it difficult to put attention on the notes with that amount of noise. I'll be waiting for you to post the next revision on "Tonic Composers" so that I can take another look at it.

I’ve made a lot of changes on musescore, but I’m waiting till I’m done with the movement before I reupload. Here’s the musescore link. musescore.com/user/45506576/scores/17555323 Thanks for listening!

its very reminiscent of Rachmaninoff piano concerto 2
@LordoftheFleetАй бұрын
No, it's not too hard. The vast majority of concert pianists would be able to perform this. There are echoes of Rachmaninoff, but there is an individual voice emerging as well. However, for a first movement, more development and length is really needed. It's all over too quickly. I know that's easier said then done, but I'm reminded of the number of times I've had to add whole passages into my scores when I realized that everything was over all too soon. It takes so much time and hard work to write this stuff, and because of that it's so easy to overlook the real length that's needed for sunstance, if you know what I mean. As someone has already mentioned, the Musescore playback doesn't do the piece justice. It's a pity that Musescore didn't adopt NotePerformer

Thanks for commenting! I've been practicing it on the piano, and for the most part it's all actually a lot easier than it looks. I always have trouble with getting things to a good length after I write them. I tend to have to start over from scratch on the piano. I think this is mostly because I don't tend to make very many musical decisions when I'm notating things. Most of the time I'm transcribing ideas that I record from my phone, which is why this took only 4 days to write. The actual editing process is what I struggle with. I'm sure there's a better way of doing this, but since I've never really taken any composition lessons, i don't know how. How do you go about lengthening things? Do you just give yourself a lot of blank measures and try a few things out until you find a direction you like and follow it? I've also thought about "saving as" and trying a couple of different ideas one at a time so I don't get frustrated or burnt out on just one idea. Ideally, I'd much prefer to write on staff paper, but I don't have any.

Oh my, the Musescore balance makes it not easy to listen to. I really like the piano part!

I've been working on editing it, but I don't think that I'm going to figure out how to make the musescore playback any better. Thanks for listening!

In my mind it will be better if your add pianissimo/mezzo piano for orchestra when the piano enters (page 2) and during the dialog with flute (page 4) ... The next parts are well balanced.

For sure! Overall I think my orchestration is both too heavy and too loud in this edit. I’ve already made a few changes, but I still want to change things. Thanks for listening!

very interesting where you have an entire block of rest for a page, very good piece tho, how do you make underlying repeats for things sound good?
@etc.-19122 ай бұрын
Are you talking about the rests on the first page? That’s just bc musescore does weird things. I can’t get it not to show all the instruments staves on the first page. It takes up a lot of space, so I decided to just put one measure on the first page. There’s probably a way of fixing it but I just don’t know how. As far as repeats, it’s probably the tempo and also that I sequence/change keys a lot. As Adam Neally says incessantly, repetition legitimizes. 😂. Thanks for listening!
