I think we all saw that result coming; but we wanted a bit more of a performance than that. Newcastle suffer another defeat at The Emirates Stadium as Arsenal continue their goal scoring rampage.

Howe hasn't adapted his tactics to the players he has available, it could be argued that recruitment as appose to management errors have caused a shortfall of center midfielders but Howe has stubbornly stuck to a 3 center-mid system when he doesnt have the players to properly support it. A 523/343 shape would help this to a degree but Howe seems to care more about this style of play suceeding than the team suceeding.

How can you suggest dropping to a 2 man midfield when we don't have any available holding midfielders or lads with pace to choose from? If you think we can't control the midfield with 3 lads good luck doing it with 2.

Either both wing backs tuck in to make a 4 or you bypass the middle and just focus down the flanks, using the combos of a freed up wing back and inverted winger.

@@IndieGoFigure Tripier doesn't have the pace to be a wing back. Your then leaving 3 very, verrry slow CB to cover the back line. It's laughable when fans think they know tactics better than the experts who see the lads in training every day

(I'm not saying that Howe should be sacked) I just feel that tactically, he isn't as good as the top managers in the league. The performances are unrecognisable compared to last season, and it's mainly because of the midfield. Since we don't have Joelinton/Willock fully fit, we definitely should've switched to a back 3 just to see if something clicks. Longstaff is ghosting his way through games anyway. We can't continue conceding this many goals.

Top managers don't have Lewis Miley, Longstaff & Miggy starting every week in their midfield due to injuries. They don't have keepers like Dubravka/Karius playing for them. Top managers have Top players. Howe has too many sub standard players to choose from

@@davidwebster5946true but there’s no excuses for how poor we’ve defended this season .. the midfield trio have been the issue & yes that’s down to injuries / suspension however last night it was madness to go 4-3-3 against Arsenal away .. should have went to a back 5 & drop either Miley or longstaff the latter has been anonymous for months … even when he scored 2 against Luton he was still ineffective in midfield

@@stephenhowe1871 we had the best defence in the league last season so we can clearly defend but when you take out 2/3 of our midfield and our best GK of course we are going to struggle. I think we are missing Wilsons hold up play from last season as well. It will change when the players are back but expecting how to fix it with the available players is unrealistic. We are also scoring for fun. Sure he could go Steve Bruce and stick everyone behind the ball but it won't lead to better results as that will kill our goal threat

Howe should stay and get another go next season with a fresh start but if we're around mid-table by November/December then he'll have to go.

I don’t think this is our level. Everyone says we massively overachieved last season but we earned our place in the top 4. This season has seen an unheard of injury crisis which has limited our ability to press from the front and put on pressure. If we went through this season with a fully fit team, we’d easily be in the top 4 again. I do agree that Howe hasn’t adapted to the players he has available but it might be too much of a tactical change to play two different systems- I’m not sure. Howe in. He’ll put things right now that we have bodies back.

Botman was poor but the 2nd goal wasn't down to him, it was Trippiers man who he let go.

Positives?? Since the start of December we have relegation form.he has managed the injury’s so badly trying to keep the Same formation using all 3 fit midfielders at the same time.mix it up abit Howe! We don’t have a style of play no pressing,no possession.we are as bad against bottom half teams as top 4 teams

Appalling management yet again from Howe. Clearly had to be a back 5, gordon up top (as we were never getting many chances first half anyway) then being on Isak, willock and Barnes. He’s not a top 4 manager at all so what is he doing here? Thanks for everything to this point but we aren’t looking to be a top half team anymore
