I like your picks. I think we’d have a competitive team if those guys make the team. Our LB injuries wiped us out last year. So frustrating because sports analysts continue talking about how the. Ills can’t get past the Chiefs, but no one ever seems to take into consideration what we’re playing with whenever we meet them in the off-season. Last year we were playing with a decimated defense while almost all the Chiefs’ starters were healthy, and the Bills still made it competitive with 2nd, 3rd and practice squad players. If anything, I think it’s hopeful for the future, and a testament to the coaching staff.

Great Job Joe! Solid, solid roster you broke down. I’m pretty sure you’ll do another one of these 53 man roster shows again once we get to right before cut time at the end of August. More players will be signed as you mentioned and we’ll see what happens throughout training camp and preseason.

I can envision the Bills running a skyscraper package on offense with 4 receivers on the field at the same time that are all at least 6’3 tall.

Do you think we keep all 7 linebackers and put Milano on IR to start the year if he isn’t healthy? There were some rumors that he might not be ready at the start of the season

Interested with the depth at some positions and how Beane can potentially get even MORE draft picks in 2025 by trading guys that are likely to be cut but are talented nonetheless (ie Clapp, Toohill, Cephus, etc). He’s done it before, granted not 3-4 in one preseason, but why not get more assets especially when there are guys that could draw a 6th, 7th, or a late pick swap.

Justin Shorter is a later round pick, that was a roll of the dice. Hopefully for him he can put together a good training camp. But it is up to him to shine and get the coaches attention. If he doesn't flash he might just get lost in the depth/competition.

That’s not how it will work. He needs to win his spot through his play and his attitude during camp. They aren’t going to keep him just in case he does something during the season if he doesn’t show something in camp to warrant it. Those roster spots are a precious commodity for a team.

Since the conversation with the doctor, that raises concerns about Samuel getting more targets and bring able to stay healthy through 17 plus games. I still think the first move after June 1 is a WR. Edge, I like the choices but I'm playing devils advocate and struggling to see who is going to pick up some of the sacks lost with Floyd's departure(I expect AJ to get a few more but not 10 more) if Miller doesn't improve over last year. So those are my two concerns still. That's pretty good out of en entire roster though. And it really is a testament to Beane's draft skills if 8 of 10 land on the 53. Go Bills!

Love your show Joe. I think 10 on the Dline is too much and we can get away with 9, and carry an extra LB or DB, or even a WR, as that is where we have been injured the past few years and have affected us. They also double as ST help

I think the bills are going big. Out side of 3 wrs everyone else gonna have to earn their keep. I like Mack but if your best trait is special teams then that’s a huge issue. We been down this road before then have to bring back an old guy because the special team guy isn’t playable. I wouldn’t make Reggie a lock either. He’s another one that isn’t being used on offense. I would keep 4 running backs just in case. Plus gore and Davis can block and catch so if you do use a 2 back set they can work.

CORNER. Benford & Rasul will not play every snap, of all 17 games this year. We need good #3 & #4 CBs, PLUS a solid #5. Typically your top 5 CBs will see the field at some point.

Claypool has higher upside talent than the other candidates for 5th and 6th WR. Roll the dice, that’s what they did trading Diggs and drafting only one WR.

I like Claypool over Isabella. I know the dude has had problems, but like you said, the upside is there and I think it’s too good to pass up. Hopefully he shows that in camp.

I’m honestly hoping for Claypool to grow during training camp. I agree, the upside is definitely there. And I also hope that he understands that this is a make or break period in his NFL career.

Claypool feels like a player who will either be a starting boundary receiver week 1 or off the team entirely. In other words, the difference between motivated and unmotivated.

For me, Isabella needs to earn the gunner role opposite Hollins to make the team. Otherwise I'd rather carry another developmental type. I feel like there's little mystery left as to what he gives you as a receiver, which is very little.

Think they'll keep 6 at DT with Toohill making it, & 4 at DE with Williams on the practice squad. Sadly feel being forced to keep Von Miller is wasting a roster spot.

With the WRs I see too many similarities with some that are going to eliminate others. For example, Hollins/Claypool, Shorter/Shavers, Isabella/Hamler. I think only one player in each of those pairings could make the team.

Very good breakdown and I agree for the most part except I believe that claypool is making this roster. Also think that people are making much too big a deal of Tyler Bass. He hit some snags late last season, but let's not pretend that he hasn't been an excellent kicker for most of his career. Heck he was the special teams player of the month at one point last season. He'll get back on track

Shavers' whole deal out of SDSU and Bama was that he was a ST Ace. That + the kickoff rule changes + Beane talking him up + losing Neal/Matakevich makes it pretty clear to me that Shavers will make the 53

Toohill is one of the most athletic DEs in the league today verified by his testing. You mention Kingsley Jonathans athleticism yet he's nowhere near the caliber athletic metrics Toohill is. Meanwhile Smoot is slow asf..

I think Richard Gouraige can make a number of rosters in the NFL. IF he was a RT and not a LT, I think he would make the 53 man. Hopefully he can slide to the practice squad. OR Brandon Beane could trade an OLineman in preseason? Could we flip Tommy Doyle for a 6th? Or, swap one of our 6ths for a 5th?

Coleman, Shakir, Samuel are the 3 given. Still don't know why Hollins is even a consideration he has done nothing and Shorter has basically played himself off this roster. Claypool and Isabella are gonna be the 4th and 5th guy and Shavers might sneak in as a special teamer.

Hollins had a pretty good 2022 in Vegas - 57 for 690 and 4 TDs. Which was better than Shakir in 2023. Then he wasted 2023 with the worst passing team, Atlanta. He’s 6’4” 220 and runs a 4.5. I’d rather have him than Claypool.

Yeah shorter really played himself off the roster with all the poor plays he made last year. Are you ok?? He didn’t play at all how could he have played himself out of a roster spot. And he didn’t play bc he was injured.

Also Dan Campbell and Goff which I call gaffe - would eat the Bills alive in a Super Bowl- more of blue collar slug fest between coaches. Bills no chance even if you beat mahomes! That’s why McDermott has to go. And hopefully pegula will make that move.

None of this matters - Josh Allen in that crucial Super Bowl moment will come up short. For 5 years I’ve seen the same movie - days invincible - but when that Joe Montana moment comes - he fails. I think it’s mental - perhaps some kind of therapy. Maybe something deeper. He leads the NFL in turnovers since he came into the league. Next, McDermott isn’t it - he needs to go - he’ll be out coached every time - ried domiko Harbaugh 1 & 2, Shannihan - mcvay would blow the Bills out in a superbowl and diggs knew all this - although I think he has a black heart inside. AFC championship for example, Sean Peyton vs McDermott. Bills must get a very progressive head coach. And there is some kind of issue w Allen. No idea what it is- needs to resolve it. Fire McDermott hire Bobby Slowik. Because Diggs left $35M cap hit you can’t sign Debo or Aiyuk - would be closer and get Justin Simmons or Quadri Diggs - even closer
