Retired with 33years in and I see things haven't changed much. It seemed like the worst laziest clerks became superviors ...the least qualified. Make management have at least a college education. For what they're paying them, they're not getting much bang for their buck.

Degrees will make them even worse. Supervisors need to be experienced carriers not lazy desk /clerk people at least a balance of each and not just based on seniority but most qualified.

I have been working 6 days a week for 3 years. I added it up and outside sundays and fed holidays I have had a grand total of 12 days off in those 3 years. Something has got to give we aren't pieces of equipment and even equipment needs downtime.

Yes! Every postal station is experiencing this and management is at the center of it all, USPS MANAGEMENT SUCKS! No body listens and honestly, I'm surprised the union here is actually standing up to it because NALC sucks and doesn't do a thing. I work 6 days a week, most weeks I'm lucky to get slightly over 40 hours if I'm lucky. My station isn't as bad as other but I can tell you southeast Wisconsin is experiencing similar issues.

No, it's management who wants to get paid top dollar, delegate their responsibilities on to everyone else, go home early. Then we have the regular career carriers who get away with murder but anyone else dare and try to take a sick day, all your extra work will be taken away from you to teach you a lesson. What we have are ancient policies that aren't being revised well.

I used to say the same thing until I started working at USPS. The problem is that there are so many different processes that require a human to do the work. There are definitely ways to improve using robotics but it wouldn't diminish many of the needs for people to do the work.

@@trixiemcfly8584 What process could not be done by a robot? sorting would be the hardest ai can already take care of redundancy checks. robots are capable of recognizing loose mail and picking/hand sorting to stack/bin/bag whatever you'd like, I believe pitney bowes has the rest already covered( I could be wrong). The U1 is already in the production phase and shipped 2000 units capable of driving and delivering an entire route provided no packages are more than 66 pounds, the ZPM project can even travel outside its vehicle at around 4mph with a 70 lb package. maybe I am lost, kiosks and customer service can deal with the rest. The bulk of the problem will be solved.

Mc Donald's workers SHOWED UP TO WORK. USPS have DISABLED VETS getting $3000/mo tax free, some workers have FMLA for up to 4 days/ wk. The RESPONSIBLE ones SHOW UP and do their job

Usps needs to be Monday through Friday. Get DEDICATED people to deliver monday-Saturday mail and also Sunday amazon all in 5 days 8 hrs a day. Lifeandwork balance is important

Trust me they don't care to pay OT in an inflationary economy, its cheaper then uping base pay which is what it would take to get more employees. They start people at the same pay at the Chick-fil-a next door to my office. And they are guaranteed sundays off.

And they receive those packages because we are forced to deliver Amazon packages no matter how long it takes us. We go over our work hours, and do not get paid overtime!

Some news investigative report did one on overtime hours disappearing from time cards or not reported with paycheck information. It concluded in many cases that the postmasters are shaving the time card so they "cut" down on OT and get their BONUSes. It's happening all over the US

@@thetruthhurts8643 You’re absolutely correct. I’ve been going to the Eagan post office for over 5 years now, and it is easily the worst one I’ve ever been to (and I used to live in NYC). I just went there for the last time today: I went inside and not just one, but ALL of the staff members were unfathomably rude, when they had absolutely no reason to do so.

The difference is everywhere else has raised wages to attract more help. Meanwhile my salary just got cut 6k a year at USPS. There going the wrong way.

Perfect time for al;l postal workers to go out on strike until their toxic work environment and their abuse ends. 60% (6 out of every 10) newly hired workers quit within the first year and 90% quit withing 3 years. Forcing workers to work 12 hours per day for over 7 days in a row without a day off is inhumane.

What is needed is to fire the bad employees like Amazon do 3 strikes you out Allow new employees to take a test before getting the job same with management and evaluate all the routes make more regulars adjust routes and deliver 6 days at week only Amazon sundays is a waste When people work 60 plus hours the money and they get by brake rules is a lot cuz they get pay for that also management work long hours for same check but ups they going on a strike

One thing I just did was give them folks their keys, badge and shirt and still make the same I was making their less stress. A bunch of miserable people that worry about how much you make and what you have. Very toxic. It’s sad y’all. The post office problem is they want it done but with what resources. Damn sure short staff. They have a boo boo oh I need restrictions. Lol good luck.

@Barbara Tyrrell that is a untrue statement people are having to deal with identity and credit card theft online. People are paying bills online because of the convenience. People are lazy but lucky the post office does more then u think. Package are up in the triple digits and lucky any legal forms have to be mailed. The decline in the post office is being done intentionally so congress can push to privatize it so THEY can make profit from it for themselves. No other business or agency has the network the post office does they know that it is a gold mine. People like you have no clue what happens when a nation privatizes there mail service. I encourage you to see what is going on in Canada and England. Once the post office goes private you will see all shipping carriers like fed ex and ups raise there prices aswell. Dumb Americans can only see what's infront of them they can't see the long game.

Go work in your local processing plant for a day. You'd change your thoughts. I was a City Carrier too and had a good experience but I am in leadership at the plant and I can tell you it's a different world.

As a retired rural carrier thats good for you, we work on evaluated time, where the mail disappears durring mail count and returns the day after count ends. Management pushes raw mail to the street, where a competent rural carrier can separate forwarding, RTS/dead letter with an extra hour in office, cutting 2hours+ on the street! USPS removed names from case, so a temp just deliver as addressed while taking a giant squat on a route, taking unpaid hours to fix, no accountability for temps, them mgt tries to write you up for temps f-up
