Sir 50 days ago I met with accident and my MRI report says. Avulsion fracture of posterior aspect of tibial eminence involving the attachment of posterior cruciate ligament with associated moderate to severe contusion. The fracture fragment measures 1.3 x 0.9 cm. There is mild superior displacement of fracture fragments. Please reply. Thanks

Apologies for the delay... PCL injuries can be treated non-surgically or with surgery. Often isolated PCL injuries can be treated without a surgery but there are situations when surgery may be indicated. Higher grade injuries (true grade 3) are often associated with other ligament injuries as well. This needs to be appropriately evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon who treats these injuries. This typically includes the following: - history of the injury - detailed physical exam of the knee - MRI - often stress radiographs are used to more precisely quantify the grade of the injury and evaluate for other associated ligament injuries I highly recommend you follow up closely with your physician so that you can be started on the right treatment plan.
