Rod is a great coach, but Canes need a some fresh changes. They are great team year after year, but still cannot make it all the way. New coach can bring new guys to the next level from the lineup. The problem is not the top-guys, they will produce but you need more guys to step up from the team. New coach can bring new energy.
@danski669421 күн бұрын
Don’t forget - the Rangers majorly courted him 3 years ago after they fired Quinn. Gallant was the backup plan. Sorry Rod. You could be in Blue right now but chose the Whalers 🤷♂️
@MarkTBird21 күн бұрын
@@miikka6081 Rod must go after this season. He had got lots of time to show how far he can coach the team. The results has not been good enough. Also top players like Sebastian Aho must step up much more in playoffs. You just can´t do your basic lazy thing and get one point by game. You must shine in every game! You must find that next step. Carolina was once again big disaster also this year.
@miikka608121 күн бұрын
@@MarkTBird Yeah I agree with changes and coach might be a good one to do. I disagree with you that Sebastian Aho comment. I think he did bring enough to the table. I think he had most points in that series including rangers players. But players like Necas, Kotkaniemi, Drury, Staal etc. They did not bring anything. The issue was indeed that only the Aho’s line was producing. You cannot win with just one line. Rangers did have two lines, so not much better from them, after saying that, Florida will most likely win the next series against the rangers.

A huge fact that often goes overlooked. Also if if wasn't for the system & the coach this team as constructed prolly is a very islander-like team in both identity and result in the W/L/OTL columns. Some might not see it that way but thats just my opinion. It takes a special coach to get guys, esp top guys on the team even if they might not be top guys in the league, but paid stars nonetheless to buy into that type of system and give it all. I give him respect for sure just as a hockey fan despite my overall distaste for Carolina in general as a rival in recent history. Respect how tough and pesky they are to play against.

I mean Fox refused to sign anywhere but NY, not a whole lot you can do there. I do agree that Waddell has wasted years of this core not doing enough or doing the wrong thing, and honestly I think he should go. Especially with how much has to be done this offseason, I don’t trust Waddell to do it

Best team in the playoffs. No one played a more consistent style and no team played more consistently than Carolina. They all pressed as a team on the forecheck all the time. Love this guy. Amazing style of hockey they play. It’s wild how through the whole series the rangers couldn’t spend more than a minute in Carolina’s zone. And then from minute 50-55 they dominated. The most pressure the rangers had in the entire series.

If Carolina ever got their panties in a bunch and moved on from Rod, the guy would have another job the day beforeeee YESTERDAY! There would be teams willing to fire their current head coaches to bring him in. He's a top 5, I actually think Top 3 coach in the NHL. He works for a SMALL market team that has grown it's fan base and hockey in the city x100 because of his success year in and year out! You can'tttt argue with consistency! Shesterkin was the MVP of the series. Switch goalies and the Canes easily win this series. Canes HAVE to upgrade at goaltender or else this will be repeated next year and the year after that. And they also HAVE to resign Brind'Amour. A no-brainer there. The very second Brind'Amour becomes available to other teams, his phone will be ringing and ringing and ringing and teams will be throwing money at him. One of the very best coaches in the league and everyone knows it.

Sorry to say this but Rangers don't win a single game if Igor didn't play like he did. The guy was fucking unreal. Canes had 67 more shots on goal for the entire series lol. You can see how quickly we would get goals as soon as we could get past Igor for the first or second time, because the rest of the rangers team was hardly there. Canes just choked like they usually do. Giving up short handed goals, and making huge mistakes defensively and offensively that just bring the rangers right back in. The puck being handed to them on a silver platter way too many times. Don't think the rangers have the team to win the stanely cup but they sure as fuck got the goalie for it. #hardtobeacanesfan
