The post office has been closing down sorting facilities way before Dejoy has ever been part of the Postal Service. I remember in Trenton New Jersey we close down the independence mall station and moved all the carriers over to the GMF which eventually had anthrax run through it. Pembroke Pines closed down in the facilities and moved everything into Hialeah which is a disaster. So downsizing has been around for a very long time. Which in makes the mail slower

DeJoy is clearly a problem, but it seems that the Postal Board of Governors is falling in line with the 10 Year Plan regardless of who appointed (Biden, Trump, or otherwise) the individual. Also, it would be valuable to take a deep dive into how this plan actually falls in line with efforts to privatize potentially profitable pieces of USPS dating back to the Postal Accountability Act and before. That deep dive would reveal the fact that, with a few notable exceptions, this effort has been BIPARTISAN. Thank you for the video. I am a postal worker. Looking into these trends illuminates the clear way in which public institutions are being destroyed and how arms of the social welfare state are being reconfigured as tools of a private/corporate welfare state, destroying the social basis whereby the concrete social configurations that create the possibility of citizenship and community rest.

The post office is a joke who went’s to mail anything since we have computers and laptops we can email and pay bills online and send birthday cards who went’s to spend money on stamps and have Your check stolen 😊

Sending letter to Philippines on 15th still in LOS Angeles on 29th. It took 14 days to get from Banning ca to Los Angeles(50 miles away). Tracking says it is in route now to Philippines. Wonder how many more days and stops letter will have to make before receiving in philippines.

Well, my brother in law has been a postal worker for 20 years, he’s 50 and he’s being worked to death since UPS can’t find enough people to work. He gets to work by 7:30 am and gets home around 10 pm. He will not live to retirement at this rate. I’m not sure what the answer is but now they are overworked, can’t take the vacations they’d like and they waste time delivering junk mail that mostly gets thrown in the trash once it’s delivered (waste of paper). Not sure what the answer is but a normal work schedule might encourage people to apply.

The Postal Service used to care about express mail and now express Mel’s not due until 6 o’clock. Also we pay other companies transporter mail around the country we don’t owner on planes we’ve been in business for 200 years and we owe nothing we contract everything out

The USPS loses billions of dollars every year. Shutting down the post office is the best thing we can do. The postal service should be privatized. Or ya know, maybe the USPS can still exist as a government run entity, but stop letting politicians run it. Or, let FedEx and UPS, run the USPS instead. Watch how the efficiency goes up.

Trump did not appoint Dejoy, the board of governors did. The Postal Regulatory Commission has watched and sat on their ass as facilities and other plants closed down under former PMG. Mail was delayed at first, to build infrastructure and update machines for packages. We're operating with more efficiency now. Most problems are still do to staffing, and 15 years of neglect by congress and former PMGs. And lastly, the PO is mandated to break even by delivering to every address in America. No other private company would dare to try this, not Fed Ex, DHL, Yellow, Amazon, not even UPS. it's an enormous task.

90% of the physical mail I receive is junk mail. Advertisement flyers, catalogs, credit card offers. A waste of paper.

So tragic...please don't cry over the post office. Private companies have already figured out how to do deliveries without being subsidized (ups, fedex, doordash, ...). The real problem here is thinking you can throw more money at the gov't to make it work better.

Just got laid off twice from the post office. Don’t hate it as a job actually one of the most peaceful jobs I’ve ever had. But that being said people wake up seriously. Between the digital world printing at home email. Competition way better than the Usps outdated pay rates for employees. All the almost retirees at my postal Sentra say if you become a career employee your retirement is fading away. Sad I liked working for the post office it was a peaceful job. It won’t survive the country won’t admit it trust me. Also the post office is self funded. Not government funded. Forced USPS to have poor performance for the next 9 years, then he cashed out all the stocks on the other side, flipped the switch back on the new generation sorting machine at USPS on his 10 years, then suddenly USPS outperformed all the other delivery companies. So he can retire very happy with a distinctive service achievement (probably a big bonus for doing such a great job), also scoop back up all the other delivery companies stocks at a steep discounted price, with 120M contract term, he will own half of the delivery industries in the US & eventually consume USPS. The price has increased over the past ten years. Airlines have much less flights than they did in 2019. The reason they went back to trucks is because of this. During 2020 there were massive slowdowns for deliveries. You had employees using Covid as an excuse to take free time off work.

The USPS can't even keep their own employees from tearing open my packages and tax documents. I honestly wouldn't miss it. Never had this problem with anything shipped DHL or UPS. JUST SAYING

The post office also has invested in flat sorting machines just like the DPS machines which some reason make the mail slower and the mail doesn’t get to us and that is why our start times are not until 830 and they used to be 6 o’clock 730 back when I started 26 years ago

I disagree with the premise saying slowing down the mail will have any impact. When you have a monopoly the people have no other options. Are they going to start paying fedex $20 to send a letter? I think not. Most mail tends to be junk. I approve of this cost saving strategy.

What I witnessed with my own eyes was the removal of outdated mail sorting equipment from yesteryear. Improved conveyor belts and updated sorting equipment that don't destroy or lose mail in a turn. Plus use far less electricity than the previous dinosaurs. The slow down here is directly related to the increase of online shopping since the pandemic (Amazon, Wish, or small in home mailing businesses which popped up globally) and this video is missing how the Unions have been lining their pockets for years while forgetting about Union members on the floor. 🫡🇺🇸
