One of the running gags with Postmodern Jukebox, is the fact the drummer is almost always hidden. This song is amazing, I actually prefer this to the original. Welcome to the PMJ rabbit hole. Scott Bradley the guy on the piano does the arrangements. You should check out there cover of Seven Nation Army also ft. Haley. IMO you cant go wrong with PMJ.

It never was a deliberate gag. It's that Scott never had the room to show the drummer in most of the videos. As he always did them in his living room and a lot of them in the early days were in a small apartment living room. Today, he lives in a mansion and has plenty of room, which is why the drummer is always shown these days .

My favorite part of reactions to this is the look on the reactor's faces when she does the key change at the end without any backup for a few beats. It's like watching people think a pitcher is about to give up his no-hitter, then realize it was planned.

"Creep" was one of 3 songs recorded on PMJ's day off in Zurich, Switzerland on their 2015 European Tour. Haley had only joined the tour a week earlier, it was her first professional gig after American Idol. WHEN you react to one of the other vids recorded that day, "All About That Bass" w/ Haley, Morgan James & Ariana Savalas (Telly "Kojak" Savalas' daughter), near the end of that video, you will see the drummer peek out and wave from behind Haley. Coincidentally, both those songs, "Creep" & "All About That Bass" was the first time Scott Bradlee, PMJ creator, re-recorded a cover he'd already done, the correct decision since those songs are now #'s one and two most viewed videos on their channel.

Haley is the bombdiggety. Yes, Scott is playing trills on the piano. I love what he plays after she sings, “ You float like a feather…” it sounds like a feather floating. All shot live by one camera. Most of the time the drums are located behind the singer. She could be a jazz singer from the 30s to the 50s. Try Seven Nation Army by her and PMJ.

I appreciate it that you paid attention to the music. So often people are blown away by the vocals, and there is nothing wrong with that. I mean c' mon the are phenomenal. But the arrangements that Scott Bradlee comes up with are such perfection.

This Version of creep is pretty much my favorite version of the song with Pau from the Warning's version a close second. Pau's is perhaps even more impressive because she learned the song in just a few hours for an Instagram challenge. Other good PMJ covers: Morgan James's version of Take me to Church, Maps (that one's great and an early PMJ tune), Who wants to live forever. Also I'd recommend trying the band's Pomplamoose, specifically their mashup of Seven Nation Army and Sweet Dreams, and Scary Pockets version of Fix You sung by Monica Martin, and Wild World sung by Rett Madison. Great twists on those songs.

Hayley's parents had a band as well. She's been singing with them since she was a kid. There's a video with just Hayley and her dad playing guitar. So Hayley is a seasoned pro, there's nothing about her being an amateur.

This is my favorite "Creep" -- by far, hands down, no joke! It reminds me of the slippery sexy jazz of the posh clubs in the 40s. Haley's vocal control is amazing. I understand that she was sick that day -- wow. Fantastic reaction!

So the story, according to Scott Bradley, if I remember correctly, is that this arrangement was originally made for another singer but Haley liked it so much that she played around with it by herself at home. Then while on tour they had a day without stage performances where they recorded a bunch of these videos. At the end of the session Scott asks Haley if she wants to have a go at this song. After the touring and recording she felt a bit worn out and hesitated. Scott said they should at least do one take. And they did just one take. This one. That's all she needed! And the rest is history, closing in on 120 Million views (not even counting EVERY reaction channel having looked at it)!😁

Mind blown? Haley came in 3rd in her season of American Idol. She is an amazing vocalist who is extra special in jazz. Haley, Morgan James, and someone else do All About That Bass with PMJ. Haley’s American Idol buddy, Casey Abrams, sometimes pops in on standup bass and occasional vocals. Both of them love jazz and scatting. I’m so glad you did this one!

I really like your reaction - I have watched a few reactions and most of them react to Hayley (who is of course incredible and I am in love with her voice & showmanship).. but the thing I love about your reaction is you also react to the incredible arrangement and musicians. As great as Hayley is, she wouldn’t be able to shine as brightly without such a perfect arrangement (by the pianist.. he’s incredible and so intelligent!) and I too am in love with the brass.. the arrangement of that well known ba da da badada dum gives it that familiarity and vintage feel, and the brass hit it perfectly every time.. and the drums and double bass are exquisite too.. I really love that you react to everything, from the engineering perspective. This is my favourite reaction video. Thank you for taking such a thorough and layered look at it all!

Postmodern Jukebox is a fun rabbit hole, and a DEEP rabbit hole. There's quite a few more songs on which they collaborate with Haley, but she's far from the only singer featured by PMJ. And Haley herself is a pretty deep rabbit hole, as she's done quite a few things on her own or as part of other groups. She does a piece with Jeff Goldblum, for example.

I'm happy to finally get to enjoy you enjoying this. Hiding the drummer behind the singer was a PMJ running gag for a while. This one reminds me of "Mother's", a bar in Peter Gunn where his girl friend sang. PMJ has lots of Haley. You will like them all. I particularly like "Habits".

Not really a gag. As Scott initially did these music videos of his apartment living room and apartment living rooms are not very big. So a lot of the time, the drummer was behind the singers and not seen. I mean, why would you play drums for Scott to deliberately not be seen? Anyway, now that Haley Reinhart made Scott a millionaire, he lives in a mansion today with plenty of room to expose the drummer.

welcome to the wonderful world of haley reinhart. she maybe the best vocalist and performer of our time (certainly the most underrated). i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. postmodern jukebox (aka pmj) takes current popular songs and completely re-imagines them vintage (1920s to 1960s) in the music itself and style of the performances that actually take you back in time. they have a variety of good vocals but haley with pmj is exceptional. all the other haley/pmj collabs are great but her other top ones are : "all about the bass", "seven nations army", and "don't speak". haley's solo career is also superb. she has 4 LPs including: "listen up", "better", "what's that sound" and "lo-fi soul" and a recent EP "off the ground" for which she is currently on tour. her lack of mass popularity and industry recognition is primarily due to her resistance to major labels in order to maintain creative control of her music. this significantly limits exposure to tv, radio, etc. her biggest hit is "can't help falling in love with you" that was created and promoted for an Extra Gum for a commercial. it now has well over 425m views and reached double platinum status. it is stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like here: (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ldt-o6iT2Z3bj6M.html ) 😎

Hayley has her own band. But PMJ calls her up for certain songs. The piano player rearranges the songs. They take popular songs and turn them into a jazzy, blues sound. I think you would like 7 NATION ARMY, talking about sassy jazzy and sexy. She's very playful in that song.

It's not really a running gag that you can't see the drummer. In the beginning, PMJ recorded in the living room of Scott Bradlee's NYC apartment, which as you might expect was small. The drummer was placed in the back due to space limitations. Bradlee relocated to Los Angeles and continued recording in his apartment. This video was recorded on a day off during PMJ's first European tour not long after his relocation. It is one of the three videos they made that day. It was a rented studio, so they probably went with the setup/staging they knew. Bradlee bought a home in Los Angeles, which led to some recordings where the drummer was more visible. At some point he relocated to a farm in Iowa or Nebraska or somewhere. I'm not sure where they record now, but post-COVID they no longer post a video a week. Scott Bradlee is in the most recent videos, so I suspect he travels to the west coast to record. In the newer recordings the drummer is clearly visible.

Yes, there is a drummer. PMJ used to like to hide him in their early videos. Her does, however make a short appearance in their "All About That Bass" cover, which features Haley, Morgan James and Arianna Savales (Telly's baby girl).

Effie Passero was performing “Creep” in their last tour in Europe, she does her interpretation of Scott’s composition and soars up and beyond, Scott’s arrangement showcases his guest vocalist talents in their own way. Try not to get stuck on just Haley and Morgan as PMJ has a ton of outstanding “under the radar” vocalist on their KZfaq channel, Miche, Hannah, Gunhild, Cortnie, Alison, Effie and the list goes on......

This rendition depicts 40’s and 50’s style of jazz, with some elements of rock and blues. Haley is a master vocalist when it comes to these genres. And yes, it was a running gag with PMJ to hide the drummer in many of their videos. Seven Nation Army and Don’t Speak are also great PMJ/Haley Reinhart collaborations.

No it wasn't a gag, As Scott recorded the early videos before Haley made him a millionaire in his apartment living room and there simply was not enough room to show the drummer who usually was staged behind the singers. Later, once Scott became rich thanks to Haley and bought his mansion, he then had enough room in his recording studio to always show the drummer.

@@Harry-ie3nt except that both Creep and All About That Bass were recorded in a studio in Zurich while on a European tour. And the drummer is hidden. And I could find a few more videos that weren’t recorded in his apartment, where the drummer is hidden.

@@JeffTokayer Did you notice how tiny the studios were. It wasn't a gag, it was a necessity. I mean, who would agree to play drums and be hidden at the same time if it weren't absolutely necessary. Not many people.

First off keep the Ninja front and center. She balances you out very well. I enjoy the two of you together. PMJ has many more that you will like as much as this one. Morgan James - Dream on - Just wow All About that Bass - Haley, Morgan and Ariana WOW x 1000 Mad World - Puddles Pity Party and Haley - very fun There are many more but these are the best.

I love most PMJ’s stuff especially with Haley but if you want her best, you have to listen to her song “Don’t know how to love you”!!!!! Loved y’all’s reaction and insight to the industry. All of my kids are in some way associated with music so I can tell when someone is in the industry. Y’all have my subscription. Thanks.

It's a running joke in PMJ to hide the drummer. They don't always hide him, but many times they do. Also, check out PMJ with Haley Reinhart singing Seven Nation Army, All About That Bass, Black Hole Sun (I may be remembering this one wrong), and Don't Speak. Have fun going down this rabbit hole!

No its not. In the early days, Scott recorded his videos in his small apartment living room. Thus, he didn't have enough space to show the drummer.most of the time. Today, after Haley transformed Scott into a millionaire, Scott lives in a mansion with his own recording studio.

Haley Reinhart is the premier best vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. As her music video view counts blow everyone else's view counts away. As Haley was the one music artist that put PMJ on the map. As prior to Haley's arrival on the scene, all PMJ ever played were cheap dives and tiny venues. Then after Haley arrived and quickly recorded several music videos with PMJ that all went viral, all of a sudden PMJ was filling arenas and coliseums. As everyone wanted to see and listen to Haley Reinhart. Other must react to music videos of Haley with PMJ are "Seven Nation Army", "Don't Speak", "Oops, I Did It Again" (great vocal control), "Habits", and "All About That Bass".

This was my favorite cover of "Creep" for a long time,until Pau from The Warning did her cover - totally knocks this off that spot - only because it's just Pau and a piano,Haley is great,no doubt but she's got a full band. You guys need to react to Paus version,and watch it right through until the very end - it's a typical Pau moment.

I just listened to Pau's version and it sucks big time next to Haley's version and it also for three years doesn't have many KZfaq listens. Unlike Haley's which is approximately 120 million views.

@@Harry-ie3nt man do you have things to learn.I love Haley,great voice and all,but that video of Paus was meant as an Instagram challenge for fans of The Warning (her and her sisters band),to choose 1 song for her to learn and cover,wasn't meant as a YT upload (but it's where most everything ends up on),and "Creep" won. She learnt it in a few hours and posted what you see - not a choreographed video as Haley and the PMJ version was. They're both great versions but I prefer Paus because of the rawness of it. She's not out there trying to get views,her focus and priority is The Warning and for their success. Not bad where English is their second language,and the fact she is one of the finest (if not the finest) singing drummers out there. She's also handy on the keyboards,and her songwriting skills are well beyond her 21 years. Now,I doubt very much if any of what I just told you will interest you,as your mind is clearly biased and that's all good,so I'm gonna leave it here.

They hide the drummer most of the time as a running gag. Haley is an amazing singer and performer and has superstar talent but she rerfuses to play the industry's games so she is relegated to small venues, which apparently suits her fine. She grew up with parents that had a working rock band. Don't Speak or Seven Nation Army would be great to react to along with many others. Those two and this one show her range and versitility. She's one of the very best female vocalist we have.. She'll blow your socks off folks.
