I can't believe that this show was cancelled for allegedly "Not being happy enough." It was two decades ahead of its time, and NOBODY could have guessed how successful its young cast would become in the future! 🌟

This is a great introduction and discussion of postmodernism. I can’t believe Freaks and Geeks as a case study facilitated it so well.

That episode where everybody in his family knows that Neal dad is and has been cheating for years grills Sam for knowing then Neal confirms with the garage door opener breaks my heart very powerful

My analysis of Lindsey is that she outgrew high school to quick and tries to have her experimental college years with whatever is at her disposal - in this case the freaks.

I remember watching this show for the first time when I was 11, expecting it to be a comedy. It's held up incredibly well.

Yes it was unfairly short lived but I appreciate how it ends. It was a perfect run and will always be remembered for being perfect, what modern television started becoming at that time would have ruined the series if it continued

"Track two is the normal kids" ... said while using his middle finger - almost as if the show is saying f-the social norms. Brilliant.

I've seen like, most of these actors in comedies. Never thought that a depressing teen drama that ran for a year would launch all their careers. It's bizarre to see... Definitely gonna watch this.

In all fairness, it's still a comedy. Or I guess "dramedy" is the better description? It was created by Paul Feig and Judd Apatow. So it all makes a lot of sense (both in tone and actors) knowing they were at the helm. Also... I see it's been 11 months since your post. Check the show out yet? I hope so!

I've always had a hard time reading and understanding academic writing, but I can tell you have a brilliant mind and are a superb writer. Freaks and Geeks is my favorite TV show of all time, and it always will be. If only it could have gone on for another ten or fifteen episodes, even. 😔

Damn bro I can't believe this video doesn't have more love, and I think the reason Busy wasn't in the opening credits was a legal issue with her agents and shit. I don't know anything more specific than that lol.

And also when I think of the 1980s I would think of the stuff like the Goldbergs
@wdmassey1734

Actually the way that the 1980s back then was technically a decade of pop culture that had no established order because in George Orwell's nightmare of 1984 talked about an a hiarchry in by climbing the social ladder and in order to be a underdog and that was the way that geeks saw it as back in the 1980s because back in the 1980s there was a undercurrent of cutting edge of the new wave that the geeks were into like SnL and comedy movies and stuff like cosplay ,mtv, politics and Reaganomics and also new modern technology like game consoles and computers while that was cutting edge of geek culture there was also nerd culture in where it was more like freaks and geeks was in the movies and tv shows of the 1980s in where there was sci fi fantasy movies, dungeons and dragons, computers, comic con, comic books, MS-DOS, punk rock and new wave music. And there was also the high school cliques and the social structure in the high school setting and the post modernism of the 1980s decade was a lot more colorful and less on the aesthetic of the way that Paul feig made it to look like because the way that the 1980s was technically based on the aesthetic of early Mtv with the memphis style of the bright neon colors

Goodshit outstanding show great content, should have been a masterpiece and Cinema and time, easily better than a comparable show The Wonder Year's...way better.. only better character in The Wonder years the father of Kevin, quite simply he made the show freaks and geeks just doesn't have that character. All the freaks did a great job portraying them, and the geeks were actually cooler did an excellent job portraying the geeks, just a beautiful written show was a classic would have ended up being one of the best shows in TV

Well for me when I saw that show I thought it was really a cool show because it was about the 1980s but technically for it to be a TV show about the 80s but the more people like liberals and progressives that talks about that show I kinda think it was that kind of show
