POTATO... You CAN religious attack into water. As long as the enemy is adjacent to land and your unit is on a land tile that you can embark from (I.e not from a cliff top). You cant religious attack if you start in water.

Like how many times along this game I’d have lost it and abandoned! It’s really impressive and uplifting to see what can be done while balancing on a knifes edge like that! I’m really enjoying this series and looking forward to that next few episodes

I always make my Petra cities too good and I can never decide if I want to pump out units with it or builders and it really hampers my game because I put so much effort into the city and it ends up not going anywhere

Yesterday I played my first culture game where I actually used your strategy of building walls for tourism. I had 22 cities so that ended up being well over 100 tourism from max walls. I faith-bought every renaissance walls b/c Valetta! Hard to tell if the strategy was helpful or not, I'll need more data. But it was fun to see the tourism skyrocket

Old wood gives 2 appeal to surrounding area while new planted ones only gives 1 if I'm not mistaken 🤔😁 Nice Petra btw, please build Venetian Arsenal too 😅🤣👍

This is correct. Woods that have never been chopped have 1 more appeal on the tile and on adjacent tiles.

@Fume Knight Of Shovelry I believe old growth wood only gets the +1 additional appeal to its tile only... Not the adjacent tiles. So +2 for the woods and +1 for every tile around the woods. The civilopedia page for conservation only mentions that the additional bonus to old growth woods is the woods themselves. It does not mention anything about surrounding appeal around the woods. So Potato is sacrificing one appeal for production to bring out another worker to blanket woods across the map. The second growth woods do not get that single appeal bonus to the tile themselves, but still have the surrounding appeal. That, combined that the loss of one appeal turns into four additional charges and extra production towards those workers, makes it worth it. If it actually gave the +1 appeal bonus to not only the woods tile but the surrounding woods for +2 appeal in all tiles just from the single old growth woods... That might make some pause then.

One AI balance in the next iteration of Civ should definitely be that the AI heavily protects their win condition. If they have culture lead, they never sell greta works. If they have science lead they never give out a scientific alliance to another top science players, that type of thing. It's kinda not great that an AI Civ which is on the path to win culture will just sell their great works and self sabotage for no reason.

I believe you can use tiles that are 4 away from a city, IF that city has claimed that tile through natural expansion, you can't buy or swap the tile from another city.

Actually, you can "build" national parks 4 or even 5 tiles away from the city, provided the given tiles are owned by the said city. The downside is you can't swap tiles that are more than 3 tiles away from a city, which may complicate park placement.

That is why I said "practically" as a qualifier before I talked about national parks. In 99.9% of situations you wont be building national parks beyond 3 tiles.

Just a small thing about luxuries and appeal. Mines and quarries give -1 appeal, but industries don't. So if you need that 1 extra appeal you can still improve that luxury, just be careful with industry choices.

i dont believe petra is ever worth it, exept from the case u use great engineer to build it, you chop tiles that you could improve and work instead and already have productive city. in exhange you get like 7 production i 7 population city and 14gold that translates to 4 more production and you pay for it 400 prodution its 40turns return on investment while trade routes return their value in 3 on marathon speed. winter petra and forest petra is diffrent because they give culture which you can get only from high population and districts (or some city state related improvements). if you dont have great engineer and still have space its better to just not settle in the sands.
