What's the issue with CGI? It reduces risk and increases what you can accomplish.

@@Aashishkebab practical effects are always going to be better than cgi because when directors limit themselves they’re much more imaginative. The rotating hallway scene in Inception could have easily been cgi but because Nolan refused to use it we now have one of the most impressive feats in movie making. Same with Interstellar’s tesseract scene. CGI is in fact cheaper, in every sense of the word

@@Aashishkebab and yet as this video demonstrates, it’s far more impressive that they did it using practical effects. Practical effects allow you to produce scenes far more grounded in reality than cgi. As for the imaginative aspect, go watch the interstellar tesseract behind the scenes video. Any studio can just cgi up a scene and call it a day, committing to practical effects for a scene like this will always be far more impressive. Like I said, CGI is cheap, in ever sense of the word.

@Dan Lane 2008 had a LOT of SHITTY movies!!! The Dark Knight is a bad movie and Iron Man is an even worse movie! Tropic Thunder is even WORSE than those 2 movies combined! And Twilight is the WORST movie, that has EVER EXISTED!!! It's sad to think they had so much creativity for the original trilogy, so much practical effects. Then 4 and 5 came around the corner and ruined it with CGI everywhere.

'To find Johnny,' you mean to find Capt. Jack Sparrow. See, even Bruckheimer cannot distinguish between the two because Capt. Jack Sparrow is JD and JD is Capt. Jack Sparrow. POTC is great, real locations, real underwater, so little cgi.
