Utah state legislation when the passed the 1.8b bill wrote in that the team names have to be called Utah whatever for both the mlb and hockey teams

My ranking of these particular eight that are making the rounds: 1 - Yeti(s) 2 - Blizzard 3 - Venom 4 - Mammoth(s) 5 - HC (or Hockey Club) 6 - Outlaws 7 - Fury 8 - Ice Others that I like (in no particular order): Swarm ....... and have the arena nicknamed The Hive Scorpions Black Diamonds Raptors - (there are several teams with the same name - Jets, Kings, Panthers, Rangers, Giants, Cardinals, etc) Locomotive Rattlers - or perhaps use this as the Venom logo Pronghorn Crows

Rattlesnakes or Sidewinders are found in Utah - nicknames can be shortened to Rattlers or Winders - an underused name in American sport, but cracking jersey and merch opportunities would be Dragons. Names don't always need to be relevant to a city or state for them to work

I can definitely see Utah HC being used as a placeholder name until they decide on a final name if they're unable to choose anything by the time they hit the ice in October. I was hoping for Utah Hive but of the choices here, I like Mammoth most. There's a lot of really cool logo designs that can be created.

How about going back to its roots in hockey history by calling them the Utah Golden Eagles (Eagles) formerly Salt Lake City Golden Eagles that existed in professional hockey going back to 53 years ago in 1969

Why not Utah Swarm? Of course from the state flag hive, but also it represents the team as in a vicious group, the fans as a colony, it represents speed and everybody working for the common goal. The arena could use The Hive as a nickname etc. It would be sooo easy for marketing and branding.

The Swarm is one of my favorites! That and the Utah Raptors, but there is a pioneer league baseball team with that name I don’t know if that matters, but the graphics would be fierce! I hope it’s not the Yeti, I think if they want to go that way, they call the team the Blizzard and use the yeti in the logo and as the mascot. The avalanche used to have a yeti as their mascot, but he slapped a lady and disappeared.

It is hard to mince it through tongue, teeth, mouths. Test it by chanting on that word in your mouth. Say "Go swarm go' and compare it with other NHL teams chants that include their team name. You will immediately notice how clumsy it sounds. I am a Red Wings fan. When you chant Go Wings go, it is much more mouth friendly than what you suggest for your team.

I love the Utah Outlaws because you could do a Honey Badger Cowboy vibe to bring in the State Bee angle, and they’re scrappy as hell. I’ve said it on a bunch of videos but I hope that’s the one they go with. They’ve also got the thief/raccoon face mask vibe going too

Even though "Outlaws" is an overused name, the "Utah Outlaws" kinda of has good ring to it. Plus the beige and sand and deserty colors would play well with "Outlaws." That's my opinion anyway.

Yeti is cool, but for a long time the avs used a yeti foot as the secondary logo and at one point it was the mascot. I like the idea of the hive as it’s literally on the flag

I think Utah Mammoth has the best potential. Maybe a cool reddish brown color scheme like the landscape, players skate out of tusks at the start, elephant trumpets as a battle cry type thing. I believe they should use something from Arizona, maybe patterns or colors, just to show where they come from instead of a complete erasing.

Because of government funding the team name won’t be Salt Lake. The state is putting forth 900 million to update the Delta Center for hockey, so the arrangement is the team name will be Utah something. Out of the options on the list the team name should be the BLIZZARD. The colors should be white, navy and light blue, and the mascot should be the Yeti. My favorite name right now is THE SWARM. Utah is known as the beehive state so it is representative of the state and some of the graphics I’ve seen for this name are fierce!

I do not the Yetis. I get the idea vehind thst name, but they are in the Himalayans not Rockies. 1. Eagles, homage to Golden Eagles that played in the IHL 2. Swarm/Stingers, Beehive State 3. Raptors, a species found in Utah 4. Gray Wolves, found near Salt Lake in Yellowstone 5. Blizzard, play on Jazz moniker Outlaws, Mountaineers, Mammoth could work as well but outside my top 5

I don’t mind non S team names and would suggest Utah Rock ( goes with Jazz and they have lots of rocks) Utah Spirit ( they do Navajo spirit tours and a cool ghost logo like ghostbusters coming out of a U with a hockey stick might be fun) Utah Storm ( can mix in the mammoth with a blizzard in theming) Not sure I like the list of names they have, but I don’t live there. The bee theme rumor idea could work too Swarm, Hive, Sting?

Utah Swarm would be my favourite potential name (beehive state related), from the 8 registered / listed I would have them ranked as follows. 1. Mammoth 2. Yetis 3. Outlaws 4. Blizzard 5. Venom 6. Utah Ice Dragons (seems like people like mythological creatures) Utah Nighthawks Utah Rogues (if there is some sort of trademark conflicts with other teams regarding the Outlaws) Has similar connotations to Mavericks) Out of your list, my favorite is the Utah Swarm. My least favorite is the Yetis.

I am very certain that the new team will use very similar colors as the Utah Jazz ... including purple as the main colour. The owners consider the Jazz colors as part of the corporate identity. Listening to interviews it definitely seems they are moving in this direction.

Not sure if Yeti is the best option because of Utah's proximity to Colorado. Even though the Avalanche don't use the Bigfoot logo anymore, it is still a part of their history, and having a team that close use something so similar feels off

If… now IF they don’t come up with a name, than the Utah HC is an ok name, I guess it would mean that the team designers would have more ‘creativity’ for colours and logo designs. Where as you have the penguins, the logo is a penguin. The avalanche, there is an avalanche in the logo. So on and so on.

Yetis is the best of what we can choose from. It's unique and it rolls off the tongue the best. Utah HC would be the worst as a long term name, but I'd put it near the top as a placeholder for about a season until something better takes its place. Mammoths would be near the top if they made the word plural like actual plural form of Mammoth is. If they want to say it's the adjective being used to represent size, I call BS. Outlaws is easily the best one out of the 8 copyrighted names. I am surprised that they haven't copyrighted a single bee-related name yet considering Utah is the Beehive State. Utah Stingers would be a great name.

I initially thought the Fury was a good option but I had not considered it was too much like ‘Furry’. That is something to be avoided. Beyond that my top choices are Blizzard and Yeti.

Someone on Twitter suggested the name Raptors because apparently, Utah's state fossil is a dinosaur called Allosaurus. I am aware of the Toronto Raptors in the NBA, but there are already several teams with the same exact name in different sports leagues, so I think it could work.

That was my favorite team name by far, but there is a pioneer league baseball team in Ogden Utah called the Utah Raptors. I don’t know if that affects the trade mark opportunity for that name, but the graphics people have come up with for the Utah Raptors are incredible! Another name I like is the Swarm.

Im my opinion the best choice out of these would be the Mammoth, i like the Hive or any bee themed name (swarm, sting, stingers) the most but seems they didnt go for it. Yetis just has something about it that reminds me of the "Mighty Ducks" where its kinda childlike with the mythological creature, also the Utah Yeti sounds better but makes no sense? Outlaws is just overused - if you grew up around hockey or probably any sport the odds are youve played against a team called the outlaws (it has the same feel as roughriders where its just been used so much no new team can call themselves that). I dont know what exactly but even "the sasquatch" just seems more fitting than yetis but definitely not the sasquaches

I'm not a fan of teams that have a nickname not ending in S (looking at you Tampa, Colorado & Seattle), so the only option that leaves is Outlaws and Yetis. I'm not feeling Outlaws for Utah, so guess I'm going with Yetis.

as a hockey fan i like Yetis or Mammoth and with the right logo the Blizzard could work .Blizzard you could have a animal that likes the cold as the logo or a Eagle covered in ice or some other animal or even a yeti looking creature with the Blizzard logo .i think the Yetis will win but not sure of the colors they will be

The Blizzard could be the name and the Yeti could be the mascot and in the graphics. The Avalanche still have a yeti paw on their jerseys left over from when their mascot was yeti.

The only thing I really want is just some cool colors and jerseys. NHL has enough of basic bland team jerseys. Especially with the iconic Ducks jerseys being switched to the most boring jerseys.

The Yetis doesn't make any sense. The Yeti is a mythical creature in the Himalayan mountains. It doesn't have anything to do with Utah. If you want to go that route, it would make more geographical sense to call them the Bigfoots or Sasquatch.

Call them the Wolf Pack. They went from being small coyotes in Arizona to big bad Wolves in Utah. Another Idea would be the Utah Alpine or Utah Dynamite. Another idea would be the Utah Bison or SLC Bison would be a good name.Lots of potential for uniforms there. What about the Stampede ?

Well, NHL has the Blues and MLB has the Reds. Some pretty unimaginative names out there. The Ottawa Rough Riders was such an awesome name too. Should have kept that.
