Second edition seems to have cleaned up some of your dislikes. It has a plastic tray that comes pre assembled and the marbles seem more vibrant than the ones in your video. Small hint, put a piece of tape or a rubber and around the neck of the beginner potions and you will be able to ID them for quicker setup.

I have the second edition, which has a lot less setup with the plastic tray. The marbles still look like crap but the game is much easier to set up. The Fifth Ingredient really makes this game shine for me. I love the chaining combos in the game and the options from that set really boost the fun factor. It also provides additional professors that change how you play the game. Love the video.

Might look into getting the expansion(s) and do an addendum sort of thing. Don’t suppose you know if you can just grab the tray in it’s own?

@@BoardGameBollocks The expansion called The Sixth Student has an upgraded plastic tray. It is really cheap to acquire here in the States, not sure about elsewhere. You get a couple more potions with it but I don't know how well they play.

Nice video as always. Thanks for doing these. For your final dislike, the rules aren't saying to prioritise empty slide tracks. It's saying that 'after' you do the random bit, if a marble is stuck at the top of a full track, put it into an adjacent (or nearest) track that isn't full. When it says "track with empty space" it just means track that has a space. Not an empty track. So it is random until you have no choice to intervene but even then it's just going into the nearest which is still pretty random. I don't see a problem unless I picked you up wrongly.

If you have multiple tracks with empty spaces then the rules ask you to manually place the marbles in them which contradicts the random requirement. Just seemed like a bit of a fudge.

@@BoardGameBollocks Yeah sounds a bit fudgy. I just read the bit shown in the video. Ah well, still a nifty and unique game that I only played once at a convention. Would like to try again.

Apparently the 2nd edition adds a plastic tray. Might be worth looking at that one if you pull the trigger.

This confirmed what I was afraid of based on the images I had seen. The marble tray seemed fun but the marbles looked really dull. I was wondering wether to get it or not but now I can stop wondering. Thanks for making this review.

Fair warning: keep your gf/wives away from this game, it seems to be more addictive then bloody heroin to the females. I played it with my gf first in a BG bar and now it's all she ever wants to damn play. My mate and I grieve over the loss of our significant others' sanity. And the worst part is they always utterly annihilate us! All drama aside, another great review, spot on!
