When my 3 month old baby started to wake up in his baby carrier, I held him over the nasty port-a-potty and he peed right into it! I also demonstrate how I remove and replace a diaper without a changing table. Every time I see these videos, I’m simply awestruck by the intelligent, yet simplistic beauty of nurturing your baby in every way. Just being that close...connected . Amazing.

It really is wonderful being present with your baby. Even if you have misses, you are more connected and aware, communicating. It's lovely.

Hi I have potty trained my 6 month old with your inspiration. Now we have to travel would you recommend any portable potty seat for plane? Thank you
@AndreaOlson
@AndreaOlson 5 жыл бұрын
I really like the potette plus for a travel potty. You can use either the bags or you can get a silicone liner for it. It can also be used as a seat reducer. Very handy.

What kind of diaper did you use for easy removal?
@AndreaOlson
@AndreaOlson 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Dawn! I usually use Seventh Generation diapers as our "back-up" because they are less wicking than Pampers and Huggies, so baby signals/holds it better in them instead of just going. I have gotten very good at removing them quickly, one-handed. ;o)

Everyone has a unique EC journey. Some kids will signal strongly, others don't. If that is the case you can use the other roads to potty. This article may help you. godiaperfree.com/how-to-know-when-your-baby-needs-to-pee/

I heard u say something about no changing table. Back in the old days we laid r kids on the ground with a blanket underneath them and changed their diapers. I would never have brought my baby in a disgusting porta potty. But that’s just me.
@AndreaOlson
@AndreaOlson 6 жыл бұрын
By holding babies over the potty, they never actually touch the toilet. This allows a Port-a-Potty to be an option when it is the only bathroom available. When you use elimination communication out and about, it keeps baby dry and happy and reduces how much baby gear you need to pack around. All around really convenient.
@micheledavis3735

Sansa Sue I would have agreed w/ the no porta potty even a month ago, but after binge watching Andrea’s videos she’s clearly illustrated that she takes great care to keep her baby safe and clean and in this one, nothing touched that toilet. I think if you’re conscientious it can be done. I’m with you about the blanket on the ground because when I care for babies I never use a changing table, even if they have one, I park it on the floor or if I’ve got a waterproof pad, on a bed or davenport.

Transition times! Any time baby has been sleeping, and any human for that matter (adults, too), as he wakes the anti-diuretic hormone wears off that makes us not pee or poo ourselves during sleep. So it's a great time to offer the baby a potty chance! And they resist peeing on their caregivers (even though he's in a diaper back-up)...so in the carrier they generally do not pee, or they fuss to "escape" the carrier in order to go in a hygienic place. Instincts!

@AndreaOlson

Hey Tauriana! In this video he is actually awake, then I put him back in the carrier and he went back to sleep. We all have 45 minute-or-so sleep cycles and in between we all (adults included) wake up a little. If you want more info on nighttime EC...i have a minicourse on that! Very succinct and very easy to implement. godiaperfree.com/minicourses/nighttime will give you everything you need. xx Andrea

I guess I’m old fashion but I think potty training just a couple of months is to young. Why can’t they just be babies they grow up fast enough. It’s not like they can walk to the potty or anything. I don’t have a problem changing diapers and letting a baby be a baby. I just don’t get it.
@AndreaOlson
@AndreaOlson 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol! EC isn't like potty training at all. It's similar to responding to their signal for hunger, or that they're tired. It is the standard in baby care in many countries and cultures, and used to be in the US as well. It's not forcing them to grow up, it is just keeping them clean and happy.
