Cast your own Concrete Countertop for a Potting Bench with a Galvanized Corrugated Metal Roof. Potting Bench plans and the Concrete Form are available for download. In our garden just past the gate there was a perfect spot for a potting bench idea. We wanted a long-lasting and durable countertop for the bench so we made the form and poured one from fast-setting CSA concrete. The potting bench is covered with a corrugated metal roof so, for stability, the legs of the potting bench are attached to concrete footings. In the cast concrete countertop I added a small sink that uses water from our irrigation system and drains down into a dry well dug below the potting bench. And we added a waste shoot cast in the concrete counter to make cleanup easier. This is Part 2 of this series.

Very nice. Possibly the sturdiest potting bench ever built. I really like the concrete and corrugated metal look as well.

Thank you for sharing. This is a fine project. I build a concrete coffee table 3’X 4’ with heavy black dye mix. I added the dye to the sealer and rolled it. It is sometimes that I am very proud off. It is videos like your that I learned and gave the courage to do.

Love it! 👍 I have a similar structure built for an outdoor kitchen. I've been back and forth so many times about doing a poured concrete countertop or timber slab. I had settled on a big cedar slab I have drying in the workshop but now you've made me think about concrete again 😅😅

Would you consider doing a video on casting concrete diy retaining wall blocks for a terraced garden in a sloped yard? Not the blocks needed for a true retaining wall, but more like a smaller version of the panels for your garden boxes.

Another excellently produced video.well done. A couple of points - using kerosine as a releasing agent works very well and is a lot less expensive than WD40. Maybe a small radius on the two outside corners of the bench top would be a good idea.

Great build as usual. Only comment since I've been researching my deck build is that you will have rot anywhere concrete touches wood. You're covered where the silicone lies, however on those vertical 4x4's, not so much. If that was PT wood, might be a long time before that ever becomes a real problem though.

Looking great! Would you use the same kind of material for a kitchen countertop? There's a bunch of them in youtube but I am not sure about how they would work. As an aside, I want to comment on the really high video production and editing. The seamless transitions between sketchup and reality in particular are really good. It looks effortless but I know it must have taken some work and planning.

What did you think between the vegetable spray and the WD-40 penetrator?
@MANaboutTOOLS
@MANaboutTOOLS 3 жыл бұрын
The WD-40 is thinner and really spreads well. The veg cooking spray is non-toxic but thicker and sticky. And will go rancid over time. They both seem to work well for their purpose tho. I'll probably use the WD-40 more often as I always wave some around the shop.
