POV: Living in the hospital 🏥 for 30 days
Have you ever wondered what it would look like to live in a hospital for 30 days? Here’s a glimpse into my life, along with Rowan’s grandma when we lived at Children’s Hospital for 30+ days when Rowan got pneumonia and RSV. 🤕🤒
Even though 30 days seems like a long time, Rowan’s grandma and I have lived in a hospital for 10 months before from when Rowan had his initial injury so this was nothing new for us.
One of the hardest parts of being in en emergency🚨 hospital situation is not only navigating your loved ones sickness but being suddenly thrusted into the role of caretaker, nurse, pharmacist, and speaker of the house communicating your loved one’s needs to the 1-10 team of doctors, nurses, CNA’s and specialists coming into your room daily as well as keeping family and friends up to date.
There is only ONE of me 🙋🏻♀️ and literally 1-10 different staff will be coming to your room asking you a list of questions. There are no breaks. This is why we need a #community around us especially in times like these.
We would not have survived if i didn’t have my community- if i didn’t have the ability to ask my brother and sister who are google masters “What are the side effects of rudinamine?” And for them to text me in real-time with the answers so I can share it with the doctors.
If i didn’t have our community dropping by with home-cooked meals, and sitting with Rowan so we can take a nap, we would not have survived.
If you don’t have a #community let us be the start of your community to grieve the hard things, to celebrate milestones, and to be mirrors to each other to remind ourselves that we aren’t perfect and only human. That there is space and time to be kind not only to others but to ourselves. 💕
