Hey thanks for your comment! I'm definitely going to grab a new set in the spring once the long & wet Canadian winter is over. I might even go to the big boy 60mm rat bones style ones! The slide control combined with the comfort of the softer urethane can't be beat IMO. I wish I had these 20 years ago skateboarding in my small town exclusively on rough pavement. One of my crew has the bones X-97 wheels and absolutely loves them too!

Love my dragons. I'm 40 and just got back into skating last year after 20 years, the dragons were the second set of wheels I tried when I came back and they really helped reduce knee and foot pain. That alone makes them pure gold for me. I got a set of Nanocubics at the end of last season and I really like the shape of them but haven't got to skate them too much, Nova Scotia weather is shit and I haven't been able to skate much at all for a couple months. Awesome video, loved the honkin goose reference.

I've had the original 93a dragons, 97a X formula, and currently the AA 97a dragons. I found that over time the 93a dragons got really slick on smoother surfaces. I feel like the 97a dragon\x formula are the way to go for all around street\park skating. X formula comes in more shapes, but I'm liking the AA so far.

@@skate_oasis I was doing a manual at a decent speed in a crusty park the other day and hit a good size rusty bolt. I saw it right before I hit it and didn't have time to react. It sent me straight to my face. It happened so fast. Didn't even put a mark in the wheel just a rust spot. Pretty much my worst wipe out since 1978 when I started. I had the SPF wheels on as I usually skate a decent vert park in Nashua NH. The other day I went to Nash after taking a month to heal and walked around before I skated. It's usually clean though I found a handful of objects like plastic parts from bike reflectors and other junk that could easily send me. So at 52 years old I'm going to try a softer wheel. I appreciate the info and review.

I love the dragons, they are amazing for street, though I prefer f4 in parks. The only downside I can think of is that they wore down more quickly than my other wheels. 4 months and I'm down 1cm from 54 to 44mm Still rocking them, but at this size they're not quite so fast. Still smooth though. Next Up are the 97a AA wheels, I am hyped to try primo tricks.

Ok I'll add a little more to this review. I'm just about 20 years older than the this guy. For me using Dragons is the first time I've ridden a soft wheel in a skate park since late 70's/early 80's. I also have been using these for a year. This review is about spot on. I've been doing Bert slides for well over 40 years and these slide really good. Infact they slide better than the Spitfire 99A 60mm wheel I was riding previously. So less effort. Now when I do layback slides I found that this is one of two tricks I do that fools the wheel into gripping rather than sliding. So when I go into a lay back on a bank or incline you really have to push that back foot away from you. Eventually it will go into sliding making it an easy roll away. The other is alleyoop slides in vertical ramps or bowls I find it wants to grip there as well. So you will need to get used to transferring your weight differently to get them sliding. For me I found that these wheels are faster than the spitfires I was using. Carving in a bowl is deceitfully fast as well. I also found when you bonk them on the coping to get air or air out, that it is much smoother on the bonk. Lastly I would not ride slippery parks since I do land somewhat harshly and depend on grip to not slide out on my ass. These have allowed me to skate any park. The wheel is incredible. As stated mine have gotten louder but I have had no loss of grip as of yet. I've also ridden these on outdoor ramps with skatelite and they grip that really well. The only thing to beware is they do cone. So you will have to rotate or invert the wheels from time to time. I was surprised with this since I thought modern wheels had done away with that issue. Thanks for a great review!!!

Oh man, I really want the nano cubics with a freestyle setup... But I can barely keep up with replacing my street board parts haha I wonder if the offset on those wheels will bring a set of trucks a size down match decks that are a size up, meaning 8.0 trucks matching 8.25 decks in width.
@swr410
@swr410 6 ай бұрын
Having tried both, I much prefer the X97 formula, which is also used in the 97a nano cubics. They still keep a good roll speed on roads and sidewalks, and they dampen impact a bit, but they don’t bounce like the 93a dragons do, and they feel on a mix of rough and smooth concrete. The bounce of the dragons is the main thing I dislike on them, as it feels like it just makes landing flip tricks harder.
@swr410
@swr410 6 ай бұрын
@@burger1113 eh, yes and no. They only go maybe 1 or 2 mm past the end of the axel. That said, I think the 8.4 AA board is about perfect with 8.25 trucks and nano cubics.
@burger1113
@burger1113 6 ай бұрын
I'm also surprised how the dragons are so soft, but they avoid flatspots somehow. I do try to keep my slide angle away from 90, and I guessed maybe the ride being so soft was masking the flatspots, but after riding 54mm ones down to about 50mm and riding a new set for a few months now, I think they are just good at avoid flatspots lol I agree with them being perfect wheels, and I don't think I'll ever ride anything else outside of skating parks which I rarely get a chance to. Even then, I'd be on the X-formulas.
