I don't know Dorian or Lydian or Accordion, nor scales, weights, measures, minors or majors, colonels and what-ever the hell ever but I do find power cords (chords?) easily enough in drop d and as is also said, "he never knew the Lord until he found a Power Chord" so my inner punk rocker thanks you

Drop D power cords sound great on electric guitar with high gain distortion! Astounding way to play almost any rock song, hit the muted strings for rhythm beats too. Drop D is also used for "Sailing" by Christopher cross. Nicely done video, stay safe and well everybody 💕💕🎵🎵

I messed around with drop tunings a bit in the 80’s while learning “Unchained” by Van Halen. But really didn’t explore it much until the last five years. Now I have 3 guitars in drop tunings permanently. It’s really a lot of fun. And since I’m a metal fan, it really lends itself to crunchy playing. There are some wicked chord shapes to be found. I’ve learned some by watching tutorials. But most I’ve just discovered by noodling and experimenting. Drop C# has been the most fun for me lately. But you really have to experiment with the whole thing to fully appreciate and utilize it correctly. I usually play with light gauge strings. But I have customized my strings to work better with drop tunings. I order individual strings to customize my sound. Usually the treble side stays the same. But I beef up the low side slightly to get a tighter sound. 🤘🏻

i dont understand what the point of drop d tuning is though? does anyone understand? like, im learning fat lip sum 41 riff and the song is in drop d, but why. theres got to be another reason theyre doing it, not to make power chords easier
