9 out of 10 times, folks, if your Power Grader is not working properly, it’s a battery or connection issue. Let’s go through a couple troubleshooting steps.
So you walk out to your Power Grader, grab your transmitter, press the button, and it does not raise or lower. What do you do? Let’s first check the wire harness, make sure there’s no frayed wires. OK, next we’re going to check the fuse holder.
Is the fuse blown or corroded? If so, replace the fuse and make sure you press it tightly back together.
Then we’re going to make sure the wire harness is connected to the battery.
Then we’ll check the 4-pin connector to make sure there is no corrosion inside or none of the pins are bent or retracting.
Last but not least, let’s check to make sure the antennae is ok.
So you’ve done the visual inspection and everything looks OK. Have you charged the battery for 24-48 hours prior to this? If not, take the charger that came with the machine when you bought it and charge the battery.
You’ve charged the battery and still the machine is not working properly. Lets test to see if the battery on the Power Grader has gone defective. This can be done in one of two ways.
Hook up a pair of jumper cables to the Power Grader battery and jump the Power Grader from another 12 volt battery that you know is good. You can use your lawn mower, ATV, or car battery to do this. Make sure the vehicle you are jumping from is turned off. Once the jumper cables are connected, simply press one of the buttons on your transmitter and see if the actuator moves. If your Power Grader works with jumper cables connected, this means your battery is defective and needs to be replaced.
The alternative is to bring your battery to a local service center to have it load tested. Call in advance to make sure the shop has a 12 volt load tester.
So you do the troubleshooting and still the Power Grader is not working properly. If your Power Grader has a wireless remote, let’s look at the battery in the transmitter. The battery in the transmitter is a CR 2032 which can be purchased at most drug stores.
After you replace the transmitter battery, you will need to resync the transmitter to the receiver in order for the machine to operate again. This step can be ignored if your transmitter has blue buttons. To re-synchronize, you simply press either one of the buttons and hold it down..you disconnect the negative battery wire off the battery..still hold that button down..and then you connect the negative battery wire back to the battery and the actuator should start moving.
