Power Jet Bypass (Motorized Bike)

3 жыл бұрынAs suggested by one of our viewers @Rowan Pritchard, we bypassed the power jet on the pwk 21. This increased throttle response and acceleration.
IMO the pwk21 is to big for the YD100. This carb might work better with a case reed set up.
Due to the size of this carb, and the limitations of the motor, a power jet seems unnecessary.

I've thought about building a setup like that on a mountain bike with some knobbies and a suspension fork. Would be fun as hell to run on some trails.

After fitting a PWK 21mm clone, it was obvious that everything except the main jet was running super rich. Dropping slider needle as far as it would go barely changed the four stroking from idle to the last 20% of throttle. Maddening. Then LA Hover Bikes nails it! Blocked off the power jet and HELLO PWK POWER. Smooth as silk. Keep it up man. Your becoming my goto engine guy! Many thanks for the work you put into your videos!

Back in da day we used to add an external jet to the V-stack of the carb. Drill a hole for it to bolt into at between 3 o'clock & 2 o'clock. Then drill a hole in the bolt at the bottom of the float bowl & thread it to except a fitting for a small fuel line from there to the external jet It will draw in the fuel needed. I had an adjusting screw to regulate the amount of fuel need. If you had gears to shift , you would be in the power band most of the time. To hear you talk was priceless.

You should back that jet out a couple of millimeters. Removing it all together will create a lean condition above half throttle. Good luck . Keep up the awesome work!

LA Hover I did the powerjet bypass and my carb is leaking gas from the bottom of the carb intake. There's a hole there for the air/fuel adjustment screw. Carb is slightly tilted toward engine is my float height to high? Any suggestions?? TY

That thing looks and sounds like it's flying.... how fast were you going....I know in one of your other videos you were going 42 but this one looked faster...oh yeah how do you like the thruster compared to the mz clone pipe?? Iv got the same MZ clone and I've been 47 mph and I really want to try the thruster....let me know what is better

7:20 I know it's an old video, but you could probably fix that with a different carb slide cutaway. A leaner one in that case.

Maybe too much clearance between piston and sleeve causing the piston to rock and scoring one side of the cylinder.

Where did you get the hose that connect the pwk carb to the intake? I can't seem to find the right diameter size hose at any local stores.

I used a cut down exhaust header and pvc. It worked for a few hundred miles but eventually started leaking. The pwk was to big for that motor anyways. (Imo)

@@LAHoverThat's been my biggest headache was trying to find a tube/hose that would fit over the 40mm intake with no reed. I've been using the speed carb but can barely get my bike to 40 It usually hits around 37-38 on a 36t sprocket with high compression head and pipe on a stock triple 40. Going to start experimenting with Jetting to see if I can get it to 40 maybe 45.

So for this motor to engage you have to peddle first? I'm wanting to put one of these on my razor mx650 and 500 ..just want to know if I can start the motor while sitt stationary

Peddling just helps the engine on steep climbs and to get going. You technically dont have to but I think it affects the longevity of the engine

To start the motor you get up to about 5mph than you drop the clutch. Depending on your gearing you may or may-not be able to use only the motor from a dead stop. It would be recommended to give a small push off and assist the motor from a dead stop, this will prolong the life of your clutch pads... but they are cheap to replace so it's not big deal, and it's the only part of the motor that will be effected.

One thing I'd do is mix it a step leaner or move the main one leaner ie if you're 32:1 go 40:1. That'll get rid of the high rpm skip.

try showing your viewers what use did to that carb for pwk and oko carb in this video to get more power it help alot of people 10 thumbs up they also video showing how to keep the choke up on these types of carb by useing a metal wire

Ebike rated tires with gator tubes work, or, you can double your tube creating a liner on the inside of your tire

@mike brink The Hookworm tires are a great tire for motorized bikes but are limited to road, Absolutely terrible on gravel or dirt, an alternative I have found to the Maxxis Hookworm on Amazon is the RacerOne tire, 38 bucks Canadian funds for a pair, I have noticed no difference except in price

What would cause my engine to surge and not want to idle and run away all the dang time when I screw with the idle screw on my carburetor on my Yd 100

99 times out of a hundred a vacuum leak tighten everything down intake carb and head about 70 times out of a hundred that helps and if it doesn't grab a kit of gaskets another possibility is that youre running lean that'll cause rpms to take forever to drop as soon as you pull the clutch in and let off throttle rpms should drop pretty much immediately or take a slight second everytime you go test make sure the bike is completely warmed up takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes for a proper warm up if you don't let warm up it more than likely going to 4 stroke which is completely normal for a cold engine 2 strokes in nature are temperamental creatures

The connection between the stock carb and intake is very poor. Wrap some electrical tape or whatever around it and see if it runs any better. I put some fast setting epoxy around mine and it cured it. Silicone works too but it will deteriorate over time. You'll just have to rebuild it again.

I would if I knew. But I have only built 6-7 bikes and no frame has been perfect so far. If I had the funding I would try a nice high end hardtail mtb.

unplugged and caped off the power jet. This is a pwk21, not all carbs have one.

Cool man, make sure you get the jet kit as well. because it's going to run like crap out of the box lol... If you run case reed set up you should be able to take full advantage of this carb. But if you are like me you will have to make your own intake. I will do a video on my intake in a day or two. But basically it's Bent PVC pipe and a exhaust manifold.

45mph on the road was our top speed. The big improvement was in it's acceleration :)

Dammm she flys is that a 44t sprocket because she pulls really good on hills mine sucks because I use a 36t but I never go full throttle because mine feels like it will go and go like yours and I'm afraid of the higher rpm's from these motors hahahaha

I have both... Well a dual sport, no dirt bike. No where to legally ride a dirt bike within about an hours drive for me :( I just love these little bike kits. :)

Not normal . Its still rich. Its 4 stroking bad. Need to jet down. Need to rejet the pilot and main.. Get a real pipe and youll see what it can really do.... Those thruster pipes are made for smaller 39cc pit bikes. Way to small for that engine..

I'm not much for speed on these bikes, just every once in a while. We have allot of trail rides, and adventure content on the channel too if that is more your style :)

Didn’t think these had power bands lol I knw there 2stroke but idk how u tell if ur in powerband I was on banshee an I can feel powerband these motorized bikes idk how that works
