I got tired of having to teardown the NT carb to change jets. So, I have installed a STEHL Chainsaw Carburetor, 900 series.( $15 - ebay ) Now, I have the High and Low Needle valves. This is for the fine tuning, High end tuned for running in "fat" two stroke and the bottom end "rich" for easy starts and bottom end torque. The "sweet spot" is at 70% cruise throttle. 29-30 mph.

These make a good adapter to put a 2 inch inlet uni filter on. Use silicone to seal up the stack to the carb.

I made it work with a manic mechanic short intake and a unifilter, coating the rubber with a little grease. Had to raise the needle one position but the main jet was already rich so it worked out. Motor was smoother and held high speed better with the intake, velocity stack and air filter.

lol. i thought i thought of this! i was really bugged by that void between the stack and the carb, so i cut off the end of an old funnel to fit. was really happy with myself!! anyway, i had to jet up to 85 and wow! i too had to scrap the filter, so i went to home depot and got a foam filter designed for a shop vac, cut it to size and hose clamped it on. viola!! love your stuff LA. peace.

When I've run into the seat post problem I added another seat post. Sometimes right behind the stock seat post location or an inch or two behind the stock one. Once the new one is installed then I would cut out the old one or just notch it out. Anything to get performance is how I like to play. Thanks for another good video.

Idk if anyone said this yet, but get a micro drill bit set and a soldering gun. Step up drill bit sizes till it starts 4 stroking then solder the jet shut and drill it out with the last bit size.

Hey friend! Thank you for the very informative and insightful video! I’m very new at this hobby and have been devouring these types of videos to help me get started and maybe avoid a few snares. It took me awhile to convert this from a virtual hobby to a physical hobby...and am still breaking in the motor. That being said, I too have a clearance issue with a high performance carb and have order a set of rubber motor mounts that are designed to reduce vibrations into the frame. My hope is that by only utilizing the rear mount bushing, it will move the motor forward enough to provide clearance for the carb to clear the rear down-tube. Not really it’s intended purpose...but it’s kind of a “2 in 1” result. Any chance this may help your situation? I realize this will cause the motor to sit a little higher...but it looks like your spark plug would rise up between the two support arms.

LA Hover your videos always 🆒 U always get my 👍's Up. What do you think about of PZ16 carb? I'm thinking putin one on with ported jug soon. Note: I had to weld my frame back together to much vibration caused the welds to break off. By the seat, the two steel rods also the the down V tubes. Ugh! ( Good times ) for sure. I'm also impressed by the cleanliness of your machine. Be well & always ride safe. Head on a swivel!🚴

I am currently in the process of tuning a freshly built bike. It is equipped with a velocity stack, a 36 tooth sprocket, a replica mz65 pipe, and a ported cylinder (ported by myself of course) on a “BT80 Sport” engine. I am also running into the problem of possibly running the engine a little too lean. Which is a big surprise, considering most of my engines have ran rich in the past (Redding California 500 feet above sea level). I have larger jets which I will try installing in my “NT” carburetor. If the larger jets work, Then i would be happy to let you know how it effects the performance of my bike. :-)

So I need help. I built my fist motorized bike today on the HUFFY Cranbrook. It was running fine. Made sure all the bolts all tight and I put locktite on all the bolts. But for some reason my crank chain keeps popping off and eventually the drive chain to the motor came off at a low speed and got stuck between my frame and the sprocket. Bending a couple links and is now unusable and I made sure the chain was tight and there were verry little play. And also my rear wheel is on verry tightly but wabbles. Can you help me understand what I’m doing wrong

I have a big question for you! How can i reduce the vibration of the motor bc is a pain in the ass (no joke)
@LAHover
@LAHover 2 жыл бұрын
A poorly mounted motor can often be the cause. Both mounts should be as flush as possible without pinching the frame. The mounts should be tight, but not over tightened. Thread lock or double nuts is better than over tighten. But one of the most common issues is running too rich, this causes allot of vibration. Try raising the needle clip one-two notches and see if that helps (one notch at a time). Some motors also just come poorly balanced, this can be dealt with, but it means completely tearing apart the motor.

Thinner head gasket, port, back-cut valves, free flow exhaust, larger intake and carb, big air filter, remove governer, change valve springs to 18lb. Premium fuel needed with compression increase. Stock cam is really mild so it won't rev super high but this is a really cheap easy way to get more power.
