This is the first in a series of reaction videos we are doing to promote our upcoming full length album, Glory and Ruin. We thought it would be fun to give our unique "power metal" perspective on some new songs from bands of different genres than our own!
This is our first time hearing the new Muse single, "Won't Stand Down."

Kate Hudson is his ex-fiance. They had a child together. Matt and her are still co-parenting, and Matt still acts as a step-dad figure for Hudson's 18 year old son. Matt is now married to a model/actress. As for lyrically, he frequently mixes big-world topics with relationshippy lines. Almost like any song is open to double meanings (or more). Even in their concept albums, it's all like this. Lyrics are usually considered cheesy/cringy by Muse fans, which is fair, but I think there's more to the lyrics than he is given credit for

Hey thanks for the info! Definitely glad to hear they are doing well and taking good care of their kids! We meant no disrespect to either Matt or Kate, Just being silly 😊 Also that’s really cool about the lyrics! It’s awesome when they are relatable in some way and I love it when they have more multiple meanings or depth!

Muse's songs tend to be directed towards political powers and structures more, which I think you'd find if you did a deep dive into their discography, as their themes tend to be more sci-fi dystopian/apocalyptic rather than mainly interpersonal. If I remember correctly, I think Matt was inspired by the general chaos of 2020 and protests kicking off (specifically BLM) for this upcoming album and you can see these inspirations in this song. Great Video though!!!

Absolution is my favorite album and got me into them back in 2004! It's funny because I mentioned Dream Theater being influenced by Muse on their album Octavarium. Listen to Stockholm Syndrome, and then listen to Panic Attack from Dream Theater and tell me they aren't very similar! :)

Fun video! You're each such unique personalities, and have unique musical backgrounds, it's fun to listen to y'all give feedback! As for my first impression of the song (if anybody cares 😅) - yikes! I did not like it. It is a weird mash up of Imagine Dragons and... Some metal band. But I must applaud Muse for their talent (even if they bastardize it with electronics - just my opinion), and for trying something new. The metal portions of the song are well done, and showcase Muse's skill.
