Well shit guys. I am back, not sure for how long, but I'm hoping to upload a bit more frequently before life gets too busy. I think an update video is needed to explain my lack of uploads, but in general, it's been hellacious. These clips are from summer of last year, and I have since moved. Hope you guys are doing well.
This video demonstrates extreme destructive electrical tests on a power strip or surge protector. The violent explosion was caused from an open circuit creating a hot arc that soon resulted in a major electrical fault.

@@VariacManiac yea I just bough a monster 500 amp contactor for the main contactor so it'll a lot of fun. Cant wait to see what you build next too.

@@controlandpower 500A seems a bit overkill lol. I doubt I'll build another unit anytime soon. As for what I got already, it's more than enough. Not sure what lies in the future, hoping for a job at a power company as soon as I get my CDL. Can't wait to see your stacked variac.

@@VariacManiac Yea it may be a bit overkill but it will be nice to have some extra power, there was one variac i was looking at its like 500a 240vac 3 phase oil cooled but its $1500 lol. I don't blame you for going to work for a power company it pays great and its always something new.

Good to see you back! I was just checking your channel the other day looking for updates. Those MOVs don't hold up to much. I had one pop at only 80 volts a while back. Quite the light show afterwards haha

@@VariacManiac nice, Allen Bradley makes quality products. The only issue with them is their parent company Rockwell makes you pay for 8000 licences to use their software! Besides that they make good stuff, i mess around with a few of their PLCs and their buttons. Good choice

Well, I believed what happened was one of the connections in the power strip gave way under a high load and it caused an arc that managed to maintain itself long enough to then cause a fault resulting in major destruction. That's my theory.
