I bought two USB-C to 5521 barrel adapter cables to power my Starlink Mini. Here is how that went.
USB-C #1: amzn.to/3zFdqvY
USB-C #2: amzn.to/4eY10iR
I did contact Starlink support about the mention of a cable on one of the spec sheets. Here is basically how that went.
Me: I just got the Starlink Mini. On your site, api.starlink.c... it says "100W, 20V/5A Minimum (with Starlink USB-C to Barrel Jack Cable Accessory)". Where can I buy this? It is not on the site for shop.starlink....
Support: As of now the only options we have regarding power sourcing will be including what is available in-box at original purchase. This is still an extremely new device and situational scenarios are still underway to confirm if other alternatives are safe to apply to the device just yet. Please continue to check our Starlink website for new accessories/ equipment regarding the Starlink Mini as the device is still in its early release stages.
Me: You're telling me that Starlink put in the spec sheet that you can use a "100W, 20V/5A MINIMUM (WITH STARLINK USB-C TO BARREL JACK CABLE ACCESSORY)" but you haven't invented it yet and if it did exist, you don't know if it would work?
Support: As of now the mini is still in its early release period so everything is not going to be fully released yet until the full release has been initiated.
Then they closed the ticket.

Those usb-c to 20v cables work well with TS100 type soldering irons, so you can power the iron from any power bank or wall-wart that can output usb-c 20v.

The Starlink Mini runs off 12v DC. All you need is a $5 cigarette lighter adapter with a 6in female barrel end pigtail off Amazon for a under $10. Plug the factory cable right into any car, solar battery, etc.

I'm currently in Houston after 6 days of mostly no power & zero Internet. We were definitely looking into this to have during the hurriacan seasons going forward since its impossible to do any work under these conditions. It might even ship/arrive before our Internet even gets fixed. Thanks for this video!

It worked great using the AC outlet on this little battery just like your Renogy. The loss you get in converting DC to AC then back to DC is something I am trying to fix. If you look at the description to the video, Starlink is trying to figure it out as well, but have not yet.
@desertdogs2122

For clarification, I did not use the AC plug (the Renogy 72000 doesn’t have an AC port), I used the barrel connection on the supplied cord directly to the barrel port on the Renogy 72000, thus deleting the AC conversion power loss😊

I don't know what to say. I bought a few things and tried them out. You saw my experience with these cables. If they don't work, send them back and try something else. This video was more of a proof of concept. Could you use a PD USB-C cable to power the Starlink mini off a battery. Before you send it back, try to power the min using the cable but, plugged into a wall adapter. Maybe it is somehow the battery.

Not all battery banks have a barrel socket. A lot of the solar generators (ecoflow and the like) do but, they are too big to carry up a mountain. For that matter, so is my car. I already had this solar charging setup that I take on long days of shooting video. So, my $100 fix really only cost me less than $10.

From a van you'd need a much longer cable and loss is inevitable. Please let us know if you've found something longer and reliable -- and ideally waterproof. Slink corp has hinted they will offer such at some point, likely @ 10x the price. Thx, great info!

Do you realize this only worked because you have a PD power supply. My unit when I installed it in my tesla I found the mini is 12 volt at about 25 watts out of snow mode. I used the car charger cigaret power cord to 5521 only because I don't trust Chinese usbc pd cables for not running long periods at higher power. Good machine, I'm disappointed I can't drive with it. I hope it's not absolute next year when they offer the cell to sat service.

I do realize that which is why I mentioned it in the video while talking about the cable and the PD port. Even if it becomes obsolete after a true Starlink phone comes out, I think I'm still going to keep it in my emergency kit. Two is one and one is none. Currently I have my cell phone, then my Visible burner phone (unlimited WiFi hotspot), another Visible phone in a bag with a RAVpower router, battery banks and a solar panel. Now I also have the Starlink mini. It's always nice to have a backup for your backup.

@L2Survive that's a good idea. I just bought a usbc pd adapter for my dewalt batteries. My wife wants to try and work from a camp site in the mountains. These new 15amp hour batteries are 3 lbs, and I think plenty for what will be needed.

This thing would be amazing with a built in battery. It would add some weight though. I don't think it would last long on less than the battery I am using which is around 3lbs. Solar would be harder to add to this because the dish needs to point Northish and the panels would have to face South Eastish. Maybe if you could have the panels run behind the Starlink mini. The panels would add a couple of pounds too. I give it about a year and you will be able to buy a case to put the Starlink mini into that has a battery and fold out panels.

I doubt that connecting it directly to a 60w solar panel would work. I do not know of any panel that will give you the rated output. Even if it did, you would need a way to regulate that power. I would suggest connecting your solar panel to some kind of battery bank then connect the dishy to that. The minimum PD output that I have seen work is 60w.
