I installed these in my pig too, I knew with alu cab fr/rear bumpers winch triple battery i was gonna need em. I dig em. I also swapped out rears with Powerstops and new rotors.

Dang I’m only half way through and I’m already impressed by your work ethic and attention to detail. I’m surprised you don’t have more subs.

When I'm done installing all the awesome upgrades (Bull bar, winch, lights, rear plate with tire carrier, lift, awning, and now apparently these brakes) my 4Runner is going to be worth as much as a Rolls Royce. But, you know, off roadish...

How the brakes holding up? Any pulsating? Hows pedal feel? Looking to do the upgrade on my 17' GX460. Would be great if you could do a 1 year update. Thanks.

I’ve been looking forward to this one. Especially since I lifted my 4Runner and added armor.

At 17 minutes into the video I noticed, as you’re spinning the rotor, these are directional rotors and the cooling vanes are going in the wrong direction that’s why they’re slanted the way they are. That rotor should’ve gone on the other side (the drivers side) so as the car is going forward, it’s catching the air, yours is going backwards. I don’t know if you caught that. If you stop the video at 26:29 you can see if you were going down the road the vanes are not catching the air. Usually the rotors are marked left or right. Just for somebody looking to install these on their truck it’s easy to miss. Factory OEM rotors vanes are straight up and down but performance rotor vanes are slanted for extra cooling.

They’re installed correct, if you watch the other videos you’ll see they’re all installed the same. Even the manufacturer videos, the air is expelled thru the vains, not used to “grab” the air. Plus at the 16min mark when he installs the disc, the orange sticker says R. The air is pulled thru the inside or inner face of the disc.

I am sure the veins are correct, the take air from inside center of rotor and send it out the top. The veins should curve upwards when facing forward. I am surprised you do not have to center the callipers with shims. They did look center in video. Also no one on youtube ever checks for run out with a dial gauge.

Nice install, excellent attention to detail, especially on the cleaning. You have to do it yourself if you want that level of cleaning.

They seem like a great upgrade, but for that kind of expense I wish there was something more empirical for comparison. All the explanations make sense but if someone did some before and after testing, that would really shed light on the value of the upgrade. Can you post an update after living with the breaks? Thanks for the detailed video! Cheers Mike

Assuming You’ve had the wheel spacers on for a little while, when you were spinning the rotor …. Was it smooth, no roughness? My point is maybe those wheel spacers aren’t as bad on the bearing as we are told to believe. Great job overall! Anyone who cleans and preps their work like you is A okay in my book!

What do you think about powerstop break kits

Very impressive! Although I'm surprised they didn't use an 8 piston being how heavy the 4 Runner is... And put a 4 or 6 piston out back... For 4 grand that would be a nice complete kit! Wonder if these guys will come out with rear setup next... Also question on the Rotor coating... Is it a geomet coated rotor? Because that is the only coating I'll use that holds up against oxidization and preventative rust corrosion...

Nice video. You're very thorough. How are those brakes holding up? I thought about buying a set for my second gen Tacoma. Also let's say you have to replace the pads. Where do you buy them. All I see is that you have to buy a whole a brand new rotors and pads. Was just making sure before I buy it that you can actually buy pads although I don't see why you couldn't

I have upgraded steel braided brake lines already installed. Do you have to use their brake lines?
@TrailCoMedia
@TrailCoMedia Жыл бұрын
You can use your own brake lines as long as they're compatible with the threads on the OE side and the PowerBrake side. I would double-check with Power Brake directly to see if the thread pitch and diameter on the Power Brakes side matches the OE spec. I would assume it would be, but you know what happens when you assume.

Yes it does. Requires a 17" wheel. 16" won't work.

Do these calipers stick out any further out then the stock ones? I have te37s on mine and the wheel is very close to the stock calipers
@TrailCoMedia
@TrailCoMedia Жыл бұрын
They are bigger for sure, however, they still allow 17" wheels. Not sure what backspacing is on the te37s. Great question for PowerBrake directly.
