I had a question concerning the difference between a hotspot and an access point. After watching this video, I think that things are clearer: a hotspot is a place where a device called an access point delivers wireless connection to the internet to the public that is within its range. So, hotspot -> place/ access point -> device.

God you’re good! I just searched for an explanation of Router & Modem earlier. Then when the explanation was so clear, even I as a nurse could understand, I began watching your other videos... and... as before, they are so clear. I’m likely going to watch a bunch more tonight. You’re answering questions about computers I never thought I’d understand! Excellent stuff, THANKS 🙏! Oh, BTW, I wonder why Xfinity/Comcast doesn’t offer Mobile Hotspot capability? In our vacation home, Xfinity is the only provider in town, but they sure charge enough & go down faster, than Verizon seems to in our city home, just 110 miles away. I wonder why!

Hi, I am thinking of setting up a public hotspot connecting a maximum of 100 devices. Currently I have a Ubiquiti AC Pro Access Point which has a capacity of 200 connections. It is limited to about 50metres. Because I do not want to limit people to the vicinity of my house, I want to add a range extender. TP Link has a 1Km range extender. Ubiquiti has a free hotspot manager software that allows the creation and management of vouchers, I would like to use this software. But with the addition of the range extender, will I not be limited to the number of connections the extender can host and also limited to managing the network over the extender? From videos I watched on KZfaq, it seemed that an extender cannot carry over the settings of the existing network and that one must setting the extender SSID

I struggled at first but this is how i remember it: 1. Physical: Machines that operate on the physical layer are NON-Intelligent, EX: Wires, Hubs, Repeaters. 2. Data-Link: Machines on this layer operate with MAC addresses, this allows intelligent switching of information (frames), but only inside of a device's own network. A common device on the Data-Link layer is a switch. 3. Network: A machine on this layer operates with the abiltity to route information (packets) BETWEEN seperate networks using IP (Internet Protocol) version 4 or 6. This allows a device in your home network talk to KZfaq's servers, for example. A device that is able to route information in the way is called a router. 4. Transportation: Transportation is the layer that communicates HOW information is sent and received. Namely TCP and UDP and their respective port numbers. TCP is a connection oriented protocol that makes sure that the data is received, UDP just throws it out and hopes you get it (because its faster (better for streaming videos)). For example, TCP :80 (port 80) is the main port for HTTP, and UDP :68 is the port for DHCP. 5-7 Are all pretty much the same and are generally grouped together into the "Application Layer", this is the layer that you as a user interact with on a day to day basis. The actually protocols of HTTP and FTP and others operate here (not just their ports).

Great video :) I have a question. How does vpn provides security from hackers? A VPN is external server which hides our i.p and device address from the destination website (also you mentioned provides encryption) I think it cannot provide security if a hacker is connected to the same hotspot because a hacker is a part of LAN and can communicate with all the devices on LAN even if we are not connected to internet. Am I right?
