Another superb video Simon, 1 thing to mention along with camera lens on windscreen to be kept clear if the road markings are poor, dirty or faded this assistance system may not work but will display grey marking on dash as u specified cheers

I was skeptical of the authenticity of the vehicle until I saw the “ Check Engine “ light. It reassured me that it’s indeed a genuine Land Rover.

It's going to take me weeks to set up the Defender when the spares arrive, hopefully it will be this Saturday. Then go back when the rest come in to the dealer. Keep it up with the guides as I hate reading manuals.

Hello Simon...just a small thing, the forward camera can sometimes need to reset. Occasionally you get a warning that “Forward Alert is not Available” which is the system that warns you if the car in front brakes and you do not respond by braking as well. Quite why it does this is not obvious but I think it might pick up squashed flies or dirt, however...it resets itself after you restart the car...driving forwards allows the park distance and forward cameras to “relearn” the surroundings and it all resets to normal with all warnings then stopping. Have you got self parking?.....I have tried it out and if works but I prefer to do it myself after 53 years!! Keep searching for new things...adaptive cruise is another..it is all clever stuff! My Peugeot 3008 has this and it’s a real pain if driving on winding country lanes as it won’t let you straight line the road when there is no traffic. It lasted one day before I turned it off.

So that’s kinda dated already. No lane centering? LKA is useful but does nothing to make long distance driving more relaxed. Lane centering is a huge omission.

You can't change it to just vibrate? In my 2019 Jaguar you can select either vibrate or actual steer.

Does this actively keep you in the lane or just bounce you back into it if you veer out of the lane? Would you need Steering Assist to in addition to LKA to keep you in the lane?

I was getting on the highway (US viewer) today and my Defender tried to kill me. It tried to swerve me into a wall. I’ve turned all the ELKA and LKA OFF!!

I can see there are going to be a lot of accidents caused by this unnecessary technology, drivers will be so concentrating on their blind flying panel that they will drive into things, can it be disconnected?

May I ask where the video showing a melted pipe clip and disconnected pipe caused limp home mode, Loose bonnet catches showing piss poor quality control and you telling us landrover would not offer you a car whilst they sorted your brand new vehicle out for you? It seems to have disappeared! I hope there is a good reason. Because it looks like you pulled the video after being "persuaded" to by land rover.... Integrity is everything!

I love Land Rover even though my Disco ii tried to kill me several times before eventually bankrupting me. I’ll even admit that in the back of my head, I want to someday trade my Lexus GX for a new Defender. That is, I wanted one until I learned it’s built in Slovakia. A rolling super computer, built by Land Rover, in Slovakia. What could possibly go wrong😏. More so, why would I ever put up with British vehicle quirks (like an engine light on in the very first owners vid I’ve watched) if British hands didn’t even build it? I love England and I would happily buy an English car and its quirks to support English workers. However, the truth is with the new Defender, literally all I’d be doing is paying an Indian Corporation (Tata motors owns JLR if I’m correct) to look like I’m supporting the British economy. In some bizarre 21st century twist, if I as an American wanted to buy a British made car, I’d have to buy a Honda Civic.
