Powering a ViaAir Compressor from your RV.

I recently purchased a ViaAir RV air compressor which is a good unit. However, it is intended to be powered from a battery as it has alligator clips for the power leads. The two options for powering the compressor is either from the tow vehicle or RV itself from it's Deep-Cycle battery.
I prefer to use the RV as the two vehicle may not always be available. Unfortunately, the battery in the RV is contained in a battery box, secured with a strap tie down and reaching the battery terminals is not easy.
So in this video, I fix that issue by adding a remote battery connector outside of the battery box that I can use with the alligator clips of the ViaAir compressor.

On my fifth wheel, the positive and negative busbars are in what was originally the battery compartment that is in an independent compartment on the front driver’s side. So I was able to connect a wire to the respective bus bar and mount a quick disconnect on the outside of the rv, which is about four inches away from the bus bars. All I have to do is plug my ViAir into the quick disconnect. Much simpler. No alligator clamps required.

Great idea for when you need access without having to open up the battery box.

I had the same idea last year. Last year I replaced my battery box on my travel trailer (the single plastic ones) with a small tool box as I needed something with enough room to hold a couple of bus bars and my new shunt. I created a 6 gauge cable to the bus bars and to an Anderson connector to the back side of the box. I cut the alligator clips off my compressor and put the Anderson connectors on both the compressor and the clips. Works great and no need to open the battery box and the alligator clips can be reconnected to use the compressor on another battery or vehicle. I have extra Anderson connectors if I need to connect other things to the battery too.

Thanks for the video. I had no idea such a product existed. It’s perfect for the air compressor. Did you consider cutting off the alligator clips and adding lugs to attach to the battery directly?

I did not consider adding lugs. I wanted to keep the air compressor portable so I could use it on my vehicles and other equipment.
