Hey Matt, excellent content. How long should our workouts be, i heard under 60 minutes is ideal, does it matter for powerlifting and would you count deadlifts as back volume?
@DanielNessBRUH
@DanielNessBRUH 10 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if you care for an answer from someone else but I would say they should only be as long as they need to be and never short only because you want it to be. Simply speaking, take your time and don’t rush workouts by cutting rest or sets if you don’t need to. That is, unless you’re in some sort of time crunch. In my experience and many others, generally with powerlifting you’d spend near an hour if not more in most cases for your main lift of the day. And with deadlifting in particular, I would say it’s more systemic volume than anything, think of it this way, sore lats and mid back probably won’t affect your pull more than sore quads and glutes, overall, I would avoid going crazy on accessories if you’re really trying to push your singles or doubles the next day in order to avoid that systemic fatigue.

I need a little help, which Sheiko program should I choose for 3 days a week and how does it actually work? In the beginning, I input my maximum and then percentages are calculated in the workout tables based on that. But when all the weeks of training finish, how and by how much do I test for the next input of values into the tables? It's a bit confusing for me, so if I could get some help and clarification on that, I'd appreciate it. Thank you all.

do leg extensions have a place in a powerlifting program as an accessory for squats? common sense would say yes because you're strengthening your ability to extend your knee, almost like the leg extension to squats is what tricep pushdowns are to bench, but I've tried looking this up and got no answer, just articles and reddit posts comparing leg extensions to leg press
@weyhanng7028

Is insomnia a sign of over training? I seem to get insomnia whether or not I'm actually pushing it or have taken a deload, but I've noticed it get significantly worse when I'm pushing it. I think I'll try halfing my squat and deadlift work and doing more machines and isolations to make up for it

When you stress your body with hard weeks of lifting, it can let cortisol slowly creep up. This hormone is a stress hormone but it also plays a role in waking up. You get a massive shot of cortisol when you first wake up so if you keep getting hits of cortisol you are sending a signal to constantly be waking up. Insomnia

Test both by squatting twice a week for a 5-8 week period each, increasing by 2.5 kg each week, whichever you respond to better, run it again until you are satisfied or plateau, then, try switching programs, one I recommend is Candito’s 6-week. Just be careful and load weight sparingly in the beginning if you are sensitive to volume, be aware you could injure yourself trying to accrue too much volume and workload too quickly.

Take a break for a week. Then start with lighter weights and add just a little bit more weight each session. You probably have tendonitis.
