Here's a restoration testimonial for you. I've had a 1997 f250, 7.3 since it was born. It now has 438,098 hard miles on it. If I were to buy a new truck every 5 years, it would amount to a new house. Think about that, over $300,000+ dollars saved over the last 23 years. P.s. She still fires up every morning, with minimal blow by.

@@guymann4016 That's my only complaint against my 96 F350 4x4 CC. You watch your kidneys bounce down the road in front of you at times. Loaded it is fine. I don't care too much about speed. I was grossing 29500 one day and some hills were a little embarrassing. I don't care, I laugh everytime I see a new one. I have way less in mine and it is not even 125000 miles yet. It sets more than it is used obviously. That's why I refuse to update.

Bill and his team did the full 6.0 dealer proofing on m '07 over a year ago now. Since then I have added another 100k miles to the truck. Not one issue since Bill's team worked on my truck. I fully agree with Bill: Get a 6.0 (05' to 07' only) and have the FULL dealer proofing done (even better: buy a 6.0 directly from him - and already dealer proofed).

I just want to tell all viewers that just 3 weeks ago I picked up my stock 2006 F350 from Bill at powerstrokehelp. I could not be happier in the performance and all around feel of my truck. With 107000 miles my truck blew a head gasket on I95 in virginia and I immediately called Bill. He called me right back and helped arrange my truck to be transported to his shop. He does everything he says with the parts and faster then he told me it would take. When I picked up my truck EVERYONE was amazing with their southern hospitality. Bill is a busy man, along with Scott they gave me all the time I wanted explaining each and every step done and parts included. On my way down to my new home town of Ponta Vedra Fla I could not believe how different the truck performed ( better then new is a understatement with 65 more horsepower from his parts used and tuning) and not to mention almost double the fuel millage then before problem. Bill and his guys ARE THE REAL DEAL!! He does what he says and his trucks turn out how he tells you they will. Thanks POWERSTROKEHELP!!

Mr. Hewitt, I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and you have helped me countless times with my 99 F3 50 with a May build dated(The good connecting rods as you know).... I don’t trust anybody to wrench on it except myself. I’m not a bad Shade tree mechanic if I do say so myself, being a lifetime heavy equipment operator. Regardless, The old girl is starting to yawn a bit....And there’s some mechanical jobs that are beyond my expertise, when the time comes, you are the only person but I will ask to restore this truck for me. I keep feeding the piggy bank and when it gets fat enough yours is the only phone that I will ring; God willing you’ll except the job and I’m not even going to ask how much because with you it doesn’t matter. Thank you for all your years of videos that has kept his truck running like a clock for me. God bless you and your family sir.

Inspiring channel! I'm just a farmer and contractor but I love the passion here and I just bought a bulletproofed 6.0 and am doing the unthinkable by selling my IDI 7.3 because of the Powerstroke industry that has leaders like you. Even the 7.3 has problems if not maintained, my tenant just did head gaskets on a tuned up 7.3 PS (needs ARP studs just like 6.0) and ALL the newer trucks are ungodly expensive with hidden issues that come out from Fiat/Allison/Ford so I applaud you.

I have had two 7.3’s. Great engines. Recently did something I swore I’d never do. Yes I bought the dreaded 6.0 in a 2005 E350 cutaway. Motor was remanufactured in October 2016 by Ford. Approximately 50,000 miles ago. Drove it from Atlanta to Chattanooga then back to Atlanta. On the way back to Chattanooga the transmission completely failed. Having it rebuilt right now. Found this site AFTER I put it in the shop. They are upgrading with heavier clutches, torque converter and turning the line pressure up just a little. Make no mistake, I will be a faithful follower of this site. Glad I found this.

I live in the Yukon and have a 2005 6.0 f350 crew long box 4x4. It has 278,000 miles right now, and just got new gaskets, oil cooler, studs. It’s got egr delete, 4 inch straight pipe (no emissions here) and ficm update, and all others needed from factory. It runs real good, and is a lariat, so it’s a nice ride. It’s got me convinced to go the restore route if it finally fails all together, but until then, I’m going to do my maintenance and keep on rocking. Great video and thank you for keeping these great trucks a good option for people who work hard for their money.

I am going through this very situation now Jan. 31, 2021 with my 2006 f350 6.0, 8 ft bed super cab with 133,000 miles on the clock. Last week it went tits up on me in a big way. Started out with white smoke out of the tail pipe then a rolling huge blackish grey cloud like a sinking battleship. Had it towed from my home to a local diesel shop and I was told I need a new engine to the tune of just under 20k. So what do I do now? When the truck was running I loved it, did everything I needed like towing my boat and my five ton trailer with what ever I put on it with no problem. Nice and roomy for the dogs in the back seat too. I thought about down sizing to a Subaru Forester, take that 20k and put a nice chunk down on it. I have a 1984 Ford F250 two wheel drive that I recently totally rebuilt with the only old thing on it now being the paint. I live in snow country so a solid 4x4 is mandatory just to get out of my driveway. That new Forester will come with payments and most likely increased insurance costs. I am retired and comfortable but not Mr. Moneybags. I have the 20k and not real wild about having to let it go but life happens. At 71 years old how much longer do I have left is something to think about too. The old Ford with the 460 will pull what I need pulled but when it comes to snow and ice forget about it. I don’t drive much now that I am retired except to go to town 40 miles away and back every few weeks or so and fishing during the summer months. Body wise the 6.0 is in pretty good shape, no rust or major damage and I have had the transmission serviced every 60,000 miles and I was told that it was was in good condition, no chunks in the pan or signs of excessive or any wear for that matter. Just had the u joints checked and replaced as needed, new tires installed too. So I asked myself do I want to keep it or let it rot out in the back 40 or do I fix it? I decided to fix it because it is worth it to me. Part of that 20k is going to replace the air conditioning that went out two years ago so there is that too. The only thing really wrong with the truck on the interior is one of my dogs ate the center console removing the cloth and foam. Never really tried to get it replaced though I should if it is possible. This was my thought process flawed perhaps in some aspects but I really do like my truck. The new engine will have all the upgrade goodies required to last me until I no longer need a truck. Take it for what it is worth but I agree with the idea of restoration over going into debt. Great video and good luck out there. Update on my truck So I had the engine replaced with one that has the upgrades such as the o ring heads, studs, shorter push rods built by Diesel Engine Machine Technologies out of Belgrade Montana. A new Ford Turbo was also installed. Of course there were other things that needed attention as I mentioned like the air conditioning system. One of those was the front end components such as ball ends and steering damper, the damper I had previously replaced but a new one was due and the way to go at this point. Out the door it cost me just under $23,000.00. The shop that did the engine swap and other repairs was Coldsmoke out of Livingston Montana. The initial problem was an injector tip broke off and it all cascaded downward from there, I highly recommend replacing them at least every 100,000 miles. After all is said and done I am happy with the decision to save my truck. I miss spoke earlier about my trailer, it is a 10 ton unit, a very handy item if you own anything like a John Deere 318D skid steer or Ford 3000 tractor if you ever plan on taking them anywhere. Yeah the old rebuilt 1984 Ford could pull it but it would not be fun plus no four wheel drive. I should have found a 4 wheel drive truck to rebuild instead of the two wheel drive one but what is done is done. A decision such as this takes some thought about what you need vs what you want, in my case I needed my F350 back up and running. I live in Montana quite a ways from town and during the winter up here you need a solid four wheel drive vehicle and one suited to your needs.

The truck pulls great but keep blowing the turbo. 2019 had 95,000 on it took it to a diesel shop and said need a tough work engine put 1,000’s into the engine. I have been very happy with the way it runs now just have the exhaust heat to watch and oil gets into the 240 range every hot day pulling hills do my best to not push it to hard around 55 or so on the hills. Have 105,000 on it now so we see if it payed off. I been watching these videos buy powerstroke help and had some idea of what I needed done..New truck was 85,000 to 90,000 so it is allot cheaper if the truck keeps running. I change oil every 3,000 and run the friction additive in it, we love truck looks great inside and out.

My 05 6.0 runs like a Top because I take care of it. I Bullet Proofed the EGR Cooler at 42,000 miles, ICP failed at 55,000, and the Turbine Hose blew off at 60,000. No other issues. None!

Same thing happened to me with my mag hytec rear diff cover on my 02 excursion 7.3 diesel. It was puking diff oil out the breather tube. I put the banks rear diff cover on and haven't had a problem since

These trucks are beasts! I have an Early 04 F350 4x4 SRW Lariat w/ 409k miles. At 250k had to put in new 06 motor, previous owner dropped a nut in a cylinder (I'm surprised it went almost a 100k with it in there) . At install had it bullet proofed- head studs, BPD egr cooler coolant filter , etc. At 375k new heads (long story). Only recently had standpipe o-rings fail. A few sensors here and there, which is to be expected with the type of abuse I put this truck through. Great truck , over the 11 years I owned it I've put $40k into it including what I paid for it w/177k miles. I'm sure I've got another 200k+ on the motor and who knows how long on the chassis.

I have a relatively low mileage (95k) 7.3. I’m going to refurbish. My only real issue is mild/light frame rust. No body rust yet. Just installed 2 post lift and will see if I can get the cab off.

That’s exactly what I think too. Buying brand new is only good for the newest electronic products added in. But the more electronics you add, will cause more problems in the future. My 06 F350 only has 117k and I love it. I do want to some day take it to you for the restoration that will go 500k more miles. It might even out live me after your restoration. To me, $15k is a whole lot better than $82k. And I bet you dimes to donuts mine will last longer than that brand new one. I’m sold on your business. Thanks.

All the thumbs downs are probably 6.4 owners. I own one of the jeezless things myself, but Bill's got a good point. Fix what you have and save a shit ton of money. The 6.0 can be a great truck with the upgrades that Powerstroke Specialties can provide. Unfortunately I don't have that option, so I'm swapping a 12 valve Cummins into my 08. Stay safe and keep Powerstrokin!

I get a new diesel about every 2-3 years once they hit 100,000 miles they only depreciate about 15K. I actually use it everyday for my business towing a 15,000 lb trailer. Also I get lariat powerstrokes for about 62k list and they have way more options than a 05 king ranch, even new XLTs have more options than those. You put all that money in a 05 6.0 you will NEVER recoup the input cost.

Hi Bill, my dad sold his 6.0 back in 2011 with 368k miles. BONE STOCK other than the 5th wheel hitch in bed. 05 cc sb f250 2wd. Only issues was a fuel regulator stuck, a high pressure oil plug blew and the Crank Position Sensor went bad. Thats the only issues it ever gave us. What do you have to say about it?😁 It was an awesome truck, rode good and had good power and i loved the truck. My dad sold it still running and driving great. I was 10ish years old when he sold it so I couldn't buy it from him or nothing. Someday I'll have a 6.0 or better yet, a 7.3 with a manual trans

I have a bulletproofed 6.0, 152k miles. It's been flawless and I just brought a 8336bh Rockwood Signature, 11,320 lb gvwr. My issue is, I never fully 100% trust the 6.0 . I have been tempted to get a 2021 6.7 F-350, but like Bill said, is it worth the money for a new truck. Maybe one day I'll make the 1300 mike drive to GA to have Bill re do my 6.0

My 2007 F350 (longbed crew cab FX4) was re-worked at the real Bulletproof Diesel in Arizona. The whole 9 yards. It's not a daily driver and I keep it garaged and out of the sun. It's still showroom and besides the Bulletproof, bone stock. I have family all over the country and I don't fly. It's been on countless cross country trips. I keep the oil clean and use only Lucas Magnum synthetic CJ4 oil, keep the trans oil spotless, and even change the axle and transfer case oil. I'd trust it driving to Mars! 175,000 miles so far and still runs and drives like new. Bulletproofed 6.0's are WAY better than the 6.4 and NO DEF! If you are closer to Mesa AZ, bulletproofdiesel.com/

Perfect video for me. 198,000 miles and paranoia is setting in. My van is perfect for me so I want to keep it but definitely don't have $15k in cash. Is there a monthly process I can follow to "dealer proof" my van? Say I have a $500/month budget how would you go about it?

6 years ago I paid off my 7.3, a year later I spend $13.5k on a new ATS trans, GTP38R turbo, FASS, and did the valve cover harness and fuel pressure regulator maintenance. It was basically the same thing as another 4yrs of payments, but it was cheaper than buying a new truck. Spending $15k to basically do the same thing on a 6.0l truck seems like a no brainer. That $15k includes a frontend rebuild and NVH stuff too I gather. Heck, I'm resurrecting a low mile 6.4 F-550 right now using a V10 because I need a second truck.

Bill I have a question for you, I have an '03 PS 6.0 with 329,000 mile. Went looking for new one the other day, just dont want to spend that kinda money. The truck runs good, minor ipr issues, been bullet proofed and deleted. We are getting ready to get a campler I would like to make sure it dependable out on the road. One of the thing I dislike about the 04/04 are the leaf spring up front, kills stearing radius. Have you ever swapped the front end of to an 05-08 supension, if so what kinda ballpark money if possible.

Thisnis literally my story last December. My 2wd 03 f250 had alot of issues. Couldn't get it fixed well. Was in no shape to drive or haul it to y'all. So I sold it. Had lots of engine add on extras alot y'all have recommended to do for the 6.0. I got NOTHING for it. Went around town and searched for a new truck. Tried going used. Decided it was better for get warranty. Went new and got a 2019 lariat BASIC f250. Being a first time buyer, my mother payment for 7 years is 911. If I'd known covid was gonna hit, and ruin the Oilfield, I'd went used. Or rather If I'd known what was wrong with the 03 I'd payed 4500 dollars to fix it instead. Lol.

Assuming the vehicle has 200k miles on it. Assuming PSS does the work for $15k. Assuming the truck then goes to 500k miles. That .05 cents a mile. Pretty low price for what is done. I know. Mikey (and others) did my truck three years ago. Drove to PSS from Oklahoma. Only one problem since then (not their fault) with the oil cooler clogging up with (I believe) stuff left in the cooling system from ANOTHER time the oil cooler clogged up from (I believe) using Ford gold coolant. That coolant has silica in it, which (I believe) cause the oil cooler to clog after the engine got really hot. Anyway, PSS does a great job!!!

Not to mention insurance will be more on a new truck. As well as registration (at least in Arizona) will be $1800-2000 per year vs $180 per year for my 2006. Its really expensive to drive a new truck.
