oh and I also wanted to mention that I really liked this style of video (the analyzing the history of something in Skyblock type). Another possible item you could do would be the Warden Helmet (I was gonna do a video about it's history and position in the meta over time but then I decided to take an extended break from youtube so that never got to happen). You could also potentially analyze the history of different Skyblock youtubers.

I can just feel that in a year Powliner will make a video called "The rise and fall of the Hyperion" after admins nerf it into the floor. It is the meta for non-mastermode, voidglooms, the minibosses on the crimson isle and Kuudra. It is too overpow9 (hence the 1.2b price tag) and soon there will be a "Game Health" updated nerfing it through the floor. Also amazing video Powliner, the animations were great

The Midas Sword is in a weird position in Skyblock, was once considered the Best Sword in the game and now it’s just a meme sword. Spending 50 mil to power up a sword only to still be a meme kinda shows how bad power creep happened in this game.

The issue isn't power creep, as even though new items are better than older ones, it's happening at a slow, reasonable rate. The issue with the Midas is that the way you get it makes it in particular not viable compared to other things. The issue isn't power creep, the issue is the weapon was not designed with the future of the game in mind.

The original 10 floor plan wouldn't have made power creep that big of an issue (floor 7 stuff = f10, not stronger) but then skyblock would have been all just dungeons. And idk, master mode should have got harder slower I guess

As a midas enjoyer im glad you made this video of the legacy of that sword. It still sits in my inventory to this day. However i must say you may have forgotten to mention that the midas sword almost got a buff because 50mmidas was almost elected during tge dante revolution, which problably brought a buff with it. Otherwise this video is great, looks even fantastic and i hope your cat will when fed actually obtain magic find Keep on going man

I left Skyblock back when the best weapon was the reaper scythe and gifted everything I had back then. I just came back to play with a friend and this video really helps a lot to understand what has happened. I see the end is still being abused for money lol

For me the Midas sword will forever stay the true definition of endgame, because now we have swords like the Hyperion which are totally rng based with if you’re lucky minimal grind and that’s if you want to do dungeons, you could just flip now and then collect minions and get a hyp , Midas was different, there were no rng based loot you could only buy it for 50m coins which at the time was really impressive, buying a Midas sword was like the pinacle of your skyblock profil, an achievement that symbolise everything that you’ve done from the first dirt that you collected to the last zealot eye that you sold for 500k.

But the aote was never mentioned (they keep adding buffs and i think they keep forgetting that they added them it gets funnier every time) (please it has 390 damage 305 strength 100 cd 85 intel with a 12 block aote range and a dungeon item)

I would like to see a new game plus mode. It would be like completely its own economy separate from the old one. And it would shake up the items, stats, enemies and just generally implement radical balance changes that would otherwise be healthy but not be acceptable on the old economy where people have done much investment.

the 50m midas was the hyperion of OG skyblock, an overpowered item, unobtainable for most, but extremely powerful, though eventually they became much more commonplace (as did hyperions)

y'know, the duality of golden and ender dragon is the exact same as midas and aotd, except just on a bigger scale. if it's ever possible for edrag's price to lower, it'd be the exact same as the aotd's price lowering. since getting a golden dragon is a flat price of 500m + perfect gemstones and gold, similar to the midas sword's flat price of 50m coins

E Drag would actually have to go up since a Level 200 G Drag costs well over 1B coins, but other than that you're actually right yeah. Although G Drag is generally preferred so I doubt E Drag will ever go up that much

That was also way less time consuming to get the best weapon in the game than nowadays. ~130m for hypermaxed midas is almost nothing in comparison to 3.4b hypermaxed claymore (or 4.5b for shiny hyperion but there's no point in putting chimera 5 on it)

An ofa livid dagger was less than half of the Midas sword’s cost, yet even a low leveled player like me can still do 5x more damage than the Midas sword. I think this can go to show how useless the Midas sword is

I first thought of doing one on the Hyperion (and Valkyrie, Scylla, Astraea all in one vid) but I realized that I wanna get the style a bit more down before then so I wanted to make a smaller project first.
