Very nice explanation. Can you pls make more video as per ADDC standard/requirements for load calulation for building, with SLD E.g how many transformer required, TRM or QRM, LV panel which kind required. Which cable size required How many DB,MDB,FDB Etc... total calulation with example of the peojects if possible show drawings of the projects with explanation. Thank you

Do we have to use the multiplying factor if the load is a connected load, instead of a total demand load?

If we are talking locally (DEWA), all breaker sizing/cable selection calculations are done based on the connected load. This additional 10% safety factor is only a good engineering practice, consider it as an advice, it's not mandatory.

Why you use demand load KW for calculation Eng Mohd... if I am not wrong, Better to use full load KW... please explain

You can use TCL of course..and we have used it in some designs and few projects..and that is the easier.expensove route to go...however, sizing based on MDL will give a better optimized design (in my opinion) because : 1. For DEWA purpose, it is acceptable and standard practice. 2. Using full load TCL will give you an unnecessary oversized CB and unnecessary additional cost. 3. Better to consider the maximum transformer loading MDL when calculating the capacitor banks. Ex : 800kW for a 1000kVA TRX and 1200kw for a 1500kva TRX. 4. You use TCL for critical items such as breakers, busbars, cables, etc.. 5. TCL is used for sizing breakers and cables since. It's a standard practice and requirement by local authority (DEWA). Section 4.6.6, 4.7.2, etc..

Regardless of the details, a 3 phase motor is simply a load. However, you need to leave spare capacity in your breaker selection to avoid nuisance tripping due to starting current. @@Electrical_Engineers_Academy how much spare capacity for breaker? Any multiplication factor we can use? Cable sizing for motors is done considering as normal load or we need to take the startimg current into consideration like breakers?

1. Cable is sized according to the breaker. You select the breaker or protective device first, then, you accordingly select the cable. 2. There is no fixed rule or a certain multiplication factor. The actual type of breaker that is used is very important in this regards (related to actual manufacturing of the panel). I will give a detailed explanation about this in the near future.
